These are the ones. Geshe Tonpa said: Even if the worst person associates with a good friend, they will not exceed the middle level; if the best person associates with the worst, there is no difficulty in becoming the worst. Sixth, summarizing these meanings is: Thus, the teachings known as Guru Yoga should also be understood as previously explained. Merely practicing each session will not get you anywhere, and if you sincerely practice the Dharma, you must rely on a faultless guide, the noble guru, for a long time. At that time, Machikpa said: If you rely on the guru too frequently, there is a risk of abandoning them. Like this, if you rely on them without knowing how to rely on them, you will not only not gain benefits but will also suffer losses. Therefore, these Dharma categories of relying on a spiritual friend are more important than anything else and appear to be the root of ultimate aspirations. Extract some rough content from pure scriptures and commentaries, adorn it with the words of holy beings who are easy to understand, convincing, and focused on the meaning of the scriptures, and arrange it. Detailed content should be learned from elsewhere. We, whose afflictions are very coarse, neither understand how to rely on the guru, nor do we do it even if we know how. For many who listen to the Dharma, immeasurable faults of relying on the guru will arise. Moreover, it is difficult for them to generate thoughts of repentance and vows, so they should understand the benefits and faults as previously explained and think about them repeatedly. For situations where you have not relied on them properly in previous lives, repent from the depths of your heart and generate many thoughts of discipline. You should also strive to practice the Dharma that is suitable. You should also repeatedly think about the spiritual friends who possess all the qualities. Like this, in order to continuously be cared for until you attain enlightenment, accumulate merit and make many aspirations. If you do this, you will soon become like the bodhisattva Sadāprarudita, who has outstanding courage, and the youth Sudhana, who is never satisfied with seeking spiritual friends. Briefly showing the way to protect is divided into two parts: the actual way to protect and the refutation of wrong thoughts about it. The first part is divided into two parts: how to do the nature of the session. First, there are six preparatory Dharmas: This is the biography of Serlingpa. Clean the room well and arrange the supports of body, speech, and mind well.

With unwavering resolve, Search and arrange the offerings beautifully. Then, when training the mind from the obscurations of drowsiness and sleepiness from the place of listening, it is necessary to walk around, and other than that, when training the mind from the obscurations of desire and craving, it is said that one should sit on a throne or small throne, etc., in the lotus position. After settling into a comfortable seat, straighten the body and sit in the lotus position or half-lotus position, and be sure to integrate refuge and bodhicitta with your own mindstream. In the space in front, visualize the lineage masters of the vast conduct and profound view, as well as other Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, noble Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, Dharma protectors, and immeasurable beings abiding there, thereby clearly establishing the field of merit for accumulating merit. Then, if there is no co-operative condition that brings together the accumulation of merit, which is the favorable condition for the arising of the path in one's mindstream, and the purification of obscurations, which is the opposing condition, it is very difficult for the path to arise even if one only strives for the immediate cause, which is the object of focus. Therefore, it is necessary to tame one's mindstream with the seven-branch practice that gathers together the essential points of accumulation and purification. Among them, the branch of prostration includes the prostration that combines the three doors of body, speech, and mind. That is, the single verse "As many as exist," which is not only directed towards the Buddhas of a certain realm, direction, or time, but towards all the Victorious Ones who abide in the ten directions, who have already come in the past, who will come in the future, and who have appeared in the present. From the depths of one's heart, one prostrates with reverence with the three doors of body, speech, and mind, not like chasing after the footsteps of others. Moreover, even if one prostrates to a single Buddha, there is immeasurable merit, so what need is there to mention prostrating to so many Buddhas? The great scholar Yeshe De said this in the commentary. Among the individual prostrations of the three doors, the prostration of the body is the single verse "Excellent Conduct," etc. Visualize all the Victorious Ones encompassed by direction and time as if they were manifest in the realm of consciousness, and emanate one's own body into as many as the number of atoms in all the Buddhafields, and thereby prostrate. Moreover, one should generate great faith in the excellent conduct of all objects, and be inspired by it. Even prostrating with a single body has great merit, so the merit is even greater when prostrating with so many bodies.
