Change, if not given, for the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings, accumulating the accumulation of wisdom, can make this sentient being and all other sentient beings happy, if given, only this one is happy. In the Bodhisattva Bhumi Sutra, it is said that the size of the need is like this. In the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra, it is also said: "One should not give up the great for the sake of the small." Therefore, not giving is not just without fault. The way of not giving is: not to say "I will not give it to you" in a rude language, but to give it after hinting in a skillful way. The skillful method is this: From the beginning, the Bodhisattva offers all the requisites to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions with a pure mind. For example, a monk observes the kasaya and other things and offers them to the Khenpo and Acharya, and then holds them. After offering in this way, even if the requisites are accumulated, they are called Bodhisattvas who abide in the lineage of the noble ones, thereby increasing immeasurable merit. Therefore, he holds these requisites as if entrusted by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. If a beggar comes and the requisite is suitable to be given to him, then the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas

It is said that if there is no thought of stinginess and it is urgently needed for the sake of virtue, there is no fault even if one does not give to the beggar. As it is said: If a Bodhisattva who has renounced the world has extra possessions other than the three Dharma robes, which the Buddha has permitted, and if they are related to the enjoyment and happiness of the body, then if one examines separately and gives to those beggars who desire them, there is no fault. If it is for the sake of virtue and does not belong to the category of desire, then even if one does not give, there is no fault. So it is said. In the Pratimoksha of the Bodhisattva it says: Shariputra, if a Bodhisattva completely abandons the three Dharma robes and makes begging the main thing, then he is not practicing contentment with few desires. So it is said. If the three Dharma robes are given, then the Bodhisattva renunciate will fall. From the point of view of need, what should not be given is: giving poison, weapons, fire and alcohol to beggars for the sake of harming oneself or others; and giving those things to beggars who accumulate the cause of going to bad destinies, who have things that should be forbidden, and who like to play and have fun; and teaching or giving nets and traps etc. to those who teach or beg for them for the sake of harming sentient beings. This shows that it is also not permissible to teach the tricks of those (nets and traps etc.) for the purpose of harming the body, life and enjoyment of living beings. Furthermore, for the purpose of harming living beings living in dry or wet places, giving land and water to those who beg for them; and for the purpose of harming that or other residents, giving those things to those who beg for kingship; and giving their enemies to those who are not friendly, and so on. The rule of giving external objects is: for that object, the Giver has not forbidden the time, and for that person, the things that should be given, giving those things that are inappropriate and incompatible, then one should give. The object is also the opposite of what was said before, if one has stinginess towards the scriptures, even if the work of the scriptures has not been completed, one should give to the beggar who wants to learn. That is, if there is a second copy, one should give that one, and if not, one should give the cost of copying the scriptures. That

Or if not, I would rather become mute in this life by giving this away. Do not accept stinginess, think like this and definitely give. Material things are also different from what was said before, when acting as a king, one should not separate other people's sons and wives from their masters and give them away, but one can give away villages and so on to beggars. Similarly, objects of entertainment that do not become the cause of bad migrations, nets that do not harm others, and so on. If it does not harm sentient beings, then one should give away dry and wet land where sentient beings live, and food and drink where there are no sentient beings to beggars. If one begs for poison, weapons, fire, and alcohol for the benefit of oneself or others, one can also give them away. In this way, when giving material things, if two beggars, one poor and one rich, appear, what should one do? In this case, if these two beggars appear from the beginning, if one is able to fulfill the wishes of both, then one should fulfill the wishes of both. If one cannot, then one should first think of fulfilling the wishes of the poor. Because this is how it is done, when one cannot fulfill the wishes of both, one should say with a kind face, 'I have already dedicated this item to this poor person from the beginning, so please do not be angry.' Make them understand with gentle words, thereby fulfilling the wishes of the non-wealthy. These methods of learning giving are very important for beginners who have taken the Bodhisattva vows, so I have written them down. Those without special instructions are explained according to the view of the Bodhisattva Grounds. Second, if one cannot give, what should one do? When a beggar begs, if one is suppressed by stinginess, one should think, 'This thing and I will eventually separate, we will not eat and drink together, it will abandon me, and I will abandon it.' Therefore, abandon it, be happy in your heart, take its essence, and do this at the time of death. If you abandon it, you will not be attached to wealth at the time of death, you will have no regrets, and you will feel happy and content.' Think like this. Even if you think like this, if you still cannot give, then, 'I am still weak and my roots of virtue have not matured, for the Great Vehicle, I am still a beginner, controlled by the mind of not giving, close to accepting views and abiding in the attachment to self and mine.'
