Moreover, he endured harm from the other side. Having become his friend, he initiated tireless diligence. Relying on meditation, he made him willing with supernatural powers, etc. When he became a suitable vessel, he relied on wisdom to explain well and cut off his doubts. In order to liberate him, it is certain that there are six perfections. Not impoverishing people and completely not harming, enduring harm and not being weary of actions, making people happy, speaking well, for that reason, benefiting others is benefiting oneself. So it is said. Those two said that in doing the affairs of oneself and others, one cannot but rely on the six perfections. If one recognizes the way in which the affairs of oneself and others are accomplished from them, one will respectfully practice them. Regarding the definite number in relation to gathering all the Great Vehicle, it is like this: not being attached to the enjoyment of what has been obtained, and not pursuing what has not been obtained, therefore not looking at enjoyment; if there is enjoyment, one can protect the training, therefore taking vows and being respectful to them; not being weary of suffering arising from reliance on sentient and non-sentient beings through patience; not being weary of whatever virtuous deeds one engages in with joy; the yoga of tranquility is non-conceptualization, and the yoga of insight is non-conceptualization. By meditating on these six, one gathers all the Great Vehicle of beings, and those are also practiced sequentially with the six perfections, and there is no need for more than that, because there is no delight in enjoyment, and extreme respect, not being weary of both, yoga is completely non-conceptual, all the Great Vehicle is exhausted here. So it is said. In that case, wanting to enter the Great Vehicle but abandoning the practice of the six perfections is contradictory. Regarding the definite number of the mastery of all aspects of the path or means, the path or means of not being attached to the enjoyment of the object that has already been obtained is generosity, because by being accustomed to giving, one is separated from attachment to it. The means of stopping the distraction of striving to obtain the object that has not been obtained is discipline, because by abiding in the vows of a monk, all distractions of the edge of karma will not arise. The means of not abandoning sentient beings is patience, because one will not be displeased by all the suffering that causes harm. The means of increasing virtue is diligence.

Because diligence has already been started, it will increase from diligence. The method of purifying obscurations is the last two paramitas, namely, meditation purifies afflictive obscurations, and wisdom purifies cognitive obscurations. Therefore, it is determined to be the six perfections, namely, "Non-attachment to objects is the path, restraining distractions after obtaining it is another, not abandoning sentient beings is growth, and purifying obscurations is another." So it is said. For not following the distractions of sensual pleasures, it is the non-attachment of generosity; for preventing what has not arisen before, it is the discipline of guarding against meaningless and untrue distractions; for sentient beings doing evil deeds that are numerous and easy to arise, relying on the antidote of returning from its meaning, it is the powerful habit of patience; for increasing through the practice of numerous and long-term virtuous deeds, it is the diligence of generating strong and lasting joy by thinking about those benefits, etc.; for suppressing afflictions is meditation; for destroying its seeds and cognitive obscurations, wisdom is needed. By showing these, it gives great certainty to the six perfections. Regarding the determined number relying on the three trainings, the nature of the training of discipline is discipline, and that is also if there is generosity without regard to enjoyment, then it is truly received, that is the collection of discipline. What is truly received is also protected by patience such as not scolding back when scolded, that is its retinue. Meditation is the training of the mind, and wisdom is the training of wisdom. Diligence belongs to all three trainings, therefore it is determined to be the six perfections, namely, "After establishing the three trainings, the Victorious Ones truly proclaimed the six perfections, the first three, the two kinds of the last two, one is also included in all three." So it is said. Thus, with what kind of perfect basis, with what kind of perfection of one's own and others' benefit, abiding in which vehicle, possessing how many forms of means, the basis and meaning of which training to practice, and the Great Vehicle and means and trainings are all perfected and gathered, it should be known that it is the six perfections themselves, and one should contemplate until one has not obtained great certainty about being the summary of all the key points of the bodhisattva's practice.
