Then do it like that. If it doesn't succeed, then clearly establish the field of merit, make offerings, and cultivate loving-kindness and compassion, etc., and hold it six times. The ritual for that is: To the Buddha, Dharma, and Supreme Assembly, I take refuge until enlightenment. By the merits of my giving, etc., may I attain Buddhahood for the benefit of beings. Recite this three times. Regarding training in not abandoning sentient beings: Although it doesn't appear in the context of training in the "Lamp for the Path" and the "Ritual for Generating Bodhicitta," the commentary on the "Lamp for the Path" says: Thus, sentient beings should be embraced and not abandoned, and for the sake of the object of Bodhicitta and its benefits, and the ritual for generating it, and the common increase, and guarding against forgetting. It is mentioned in such chapters, and it doesn't seem to contradict the fundamental intention, so one should train in that as well. The measure of abandonment is: Relying on some causes such as doing improper things, the thought arises that "I will never do this again." Regarding training in accumulating the two accumulations: From the time of taking the vow with the aspiration ritual, strive to accumulate the accumulations of offering to the Three Jewels, etc., as a cause for the increase of Bodhicitta each day. Although I haven't seen a reliable source for this other than what the previous ones have said, it seems very beneficial. Second, regarding training in the cause for not being separated from it in other lifetimes, there are two: abandoning the four black dharmas that cause it to degenerate, and adopting the four white dharmas that do not cause it to degenerate and training in them. First: In the chapter of "Net Light Youth" in the "Ratnakuta Sutra," it says: There are four dharmas for forgetting the generation of Bodhicitta or not manifesting it in other lifetimes, and there are four dharmas for not forgetting Bodhicitta or manifesting it in the intermediate state until enlightenment is attained, and these are taught as the training for the aspiration. Among them, regarding the four black dharmas: Deceiving the Khenpo, Acharya, Lama, and benefactor should be understood in two ways. The objects are: Khenpo and Acharya are easy to understand, Lama is the one who wants to benefit, and benefactor, although not counted, also possesses qualities. This is what is said in the commentary on the chapter of "Net Light Youth." If one does something to these objects, what will become a black dharma? To any of these objects, oneself

If one knowingly deceives, it is a black dharma. The way of deceiving is, when the people of those places speak of downfalls with compassion, to confuse them with false words, as explained in the commentary. The lamas forbid all acts of deception with a mind of deception. However, non-false deception will be explained below, so it must be a false act to deceive. In the Compendium of Trainings, it is said that abandoning black dharmas is white dharma. Because this is the first of the four antidotes of white dharma. Furthermore, one can also do this: ask the lama for other suggestions, and after making other suggestions in secret, say, 'The Geshe (spiritual friend) will come to listen.' A student with a bad heart will disturb the lama's mind. Furthermore, creating regret for those who have no regret is also divided into two situations. The object is: other people who are doing good, who have no regret. What is done to them? With the intention of making them regret, to create regret for things that should not be regretted. The commentary says that for those who behave like Brahma, who abide in the correct precepts, to deceive them with deceitful means, causing them to be confused about the precepts. For these two situations, whether one can successfully deceive, and whether regret arises, are considered similar, which seems to be in accordance with the commentary. However, the commentary says that for the latter, the act of confusing is also done. For those beings who have truly entered the Great Vehicle, to say things like not praising them. The object is: some people think that those who have taken the Bodhicitta vow through ritual and are in accordance with it. Some people think that even if they have taken the Bodhicitta vow before, it is okay if they are not in accordance with it now. But this contradicts the sutras, so it is not reasonable. The commentary only mentions Bodhisattva, without specifying clearly. In other places, there are many teachings about the Bodhisattva vow, saying that studying the Bodhisattva vow is truly entering the Great Vehicle, but I wonder if it must start from taking the Bodhicitta vow. What is done to them? Saying things like not praising them. It is thought that it must be said driven by hatred, which is in accordance with the commentary. To whom is it said? The commentary says that in order to prevent those Bodhisattvas who strive for the Dharma, to prevent them from believing in or practicing the Great Vehicle, it is said to them. But it seems that it is enough to understand its meaning. To this, the words of not praising are: a person with bad behavior.
