The gradual cultivation is composed by the master Kamalashila, following the Abhidharma Sutra. This is a very important point. If you do not separate them individually and practice by focusing on the general from the beginning, it seems like it arises, but if you think about each one, it seems like it does not arise in anything. If you take out the experiences of changing your mind one by one, as mentioned before, and increase them, and finally cultivate by focusing on the general, then it is the cause of pure arising whether you focus on the group or the individual. The way of meditation is to think about how sentient beings who have been mothers fall into samsara and experience the suffering of the general and the individual. The sufferings have already been mentioned. If this is born from the previous practice of the path of the middle person, then it will be easier to arise by meditating according to your own experience. Thinking about them on your own will become the cause of arising the mind of renunciation; thinking about others will become the cause of arising compassion. However, if you do not think about yourself first, the key points will not arise. These are just examples. In detail, those who have the power of wisdom should meditate on the hundred and ten sufferings of compassion mentioned in the Bodhisattva-bhumi. In addition, the Shravakas realize the truth of suffering and ultimately see suffering with a mind of disgust, but the Bodhisattvas cultivate compassion and say that they think more about suffering. If you think from the way of no happiness and suffering, from the infinite doors, then love and compassion will also arise very much. If you think for a long time, then a strong and stable one will arise. Therefore, if you are satisfied with a few instructions and abandon the cultivation mentioned in the great scriptures, then the power will be very small. As mentioned before, the way to enter the Mahayana is the way to generate the mind of enlightenment, and the way to make compassion the root, etc. After distinguishing their objects well, you need to observe and cultivate with the wisdom of individual observation, and finally the experience that arises. If you do not distinguish the objects well with understanding, and only work hard on a fixed goal, then the vague experience will not go anywhere. You should also know this in other practice sessions. Among them, the measure of the arising of compassion is in the first stage of meditation:

Just as one wishes to relieve the suffering of one's beloved child, similarly, compassion naturally arises for all sentient beings, wishing for them to be completely free from suffering, and one acts accordingly. Only then is it complete, and one earns the name of great compassion. Just as a mother feels great compassion when her beloved little son suffers, when the same degree of compassion naturally arises for all sentient beings, it is said to possess the nature of great compassion. This can also be used to measure the degree of arising of great love. Furthermore, in the continuation of that scripture, it says: 'In this way, through the power of familiarizing oneself with great compassion, one vows to guide all sentient beings, and the mind of enlightenment, which is the nature of aspiring to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, arises naturally, without needing to be contrived.' Therefore, the scripture says that the cause for the arising of the aspiring mind of enlightenment is the great compassion mentioned earlier. This can also be used to measure the degree of arising of the mind of enlightenment. This does not refer to the generation of the mind of enlightenment of those who have already embarked on the high path, but rather to the situation of those who are just beginning to generate the mind of enlightenment. In the Compendium of the Great Vehicle, it is also said: 'Those who are virtuous and have strong aspirations, whose intentions are firm, and who possess excellent qualities, countless Bodhisattvas of the three immeasurable eons, are constantly striving.' Therefore, even for Bodhisattvas who are beginning to enter the three immeasurable eons, such a mind must arise. Therefore, if one does not even have the slightest aspect or direction of these, and merely thinks, 'I will attain Buddhahood for the sake of all sentient beings, and for that purpose I will do this virtuous deed,' one is greatly mistaken. Furthermore, one firmly holds onto the pride of thinking that one has attained something that one has not, and one takes the mind of enlightenment as the core of the teachings but does not cultivate it. Instead, one seeks and strives elsewhere, only thinking of traversing many levels of the path. If those who understand the essence of the Great Vehicle were to see this, it would be a cause for laughter. For the noble sons of the Buddha cultivate it as the core of their practice for countless eons, so what need is there to mention those who have only a little understanding? This is not to say that one should not cultivate other paths, but rather that in the practice of the mind of enlightenment, one also needs the core of the teachings.
