Thus, having thoroughly understood the nature of samsara through suffering and the origin, and through the twelve links of dependent origination, merely having the desire to abandon them and the desire to attain their pacification is only the thought of renunciation, but that alone is not enough. In the commentary on the "Sixty Stanzas of Reasoning," it says, "Dwelling in the midst of the raging fire of the impermanence of the three realms is like being trapped in a house engulfed in flames, and one certainly desires to escape from it." And as quoted before, "As a prisoner from prison," etc., just as one dislikes being trapped in a burning house or the situation of a prisoner in prison, and one desires to be liberated from those situations, one should generate a thought of that magnitude, and then increase it further. This thought, as Sharawa said, if it is just like tsampa mixed with yogurt, only tasted at the lips, then the dislike for the origin of samsara, the cause, will only be like that. If that is the case, then the pursuit of liberation, the cessation of suffering, will also be the same. Therefore, the desire to practice on the path to liberation will only be lip service, and unbearable compassion for the suffering of other beings wandering in samsara will not arise, and the unfabricated, powerful supreme bodhicitta that can inspire the mind will not arise, so the Great Vehicle will only become a mere understanding that follows words. Therefore, these intermediate Dharma teachings must be taken as the core of the instructions and practiced. Third, dispelling wrong views about it: If one generates extreme aversion and weariness towards samsara, then like the Shravakas, because one dislikes entering samsara, one will fall into the extreme of peace. Therefore, cultivating weariness is beautiful for the Lesser Vehicle, but it is not appropriate for Bodhisattvas to cultivate it. In the "Inconceivable Secret Sutra," it says, "Bodhisattvas, taking the complete maturation of sentient beings as the proximate cause, viewing samsara as beneficial in that way, is not complete great nirvana." It also says, "If Bodhisattvas are afraid of the realm of samsara, they will fall into a non-realm." It also says, "Bhagavan, the Shravakas, regarding the realm of samsara

They will be afraid. Bodhisattvas will take rebirth countless times again. If someone says that, it is a great mistake because it is a reversed understanding of the meaning of the sutra. The sutra says, "Do not be weary of samsara," which does not mean not to be weary of the suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death, etc., caused by karma and afflictions in samsara. Rather, it means that when a Bodhisattva, in order to benefit sentient beings, puts on the armor of Bodhisattva conduct until the end of samsara, even if all the suffering of sentient beings combined descends upon body and mind in every moment, they will not be weary and afraid because of it, but will begin great conduct with joyful diligence. This is why the sutra says not to be weary of samsara. As Chandrakirti said, "All the suffering of sentient beings descends, harming body and mind in different ways in every moment until the end of samsara, but they will not be afraid because of it. Every moment of diligence done with joy until the end of samsara when the suffering of sentient beings descends simultaneously is regarded as the source of wealth that generates the infinite all-knowing wisdom of all sentient beings. Therefore, one should take rebirth hundreds of thousands of times again." To prove this, he quoted these sutras. As a reason for viewing the benefits of samsara, similarly, in that same sutra it says, "A Bodhisattva is diligent in benefiting sentient beings, and the more diligent they are, the happier their mind becomes." Therefore, not being weary of samsara means not being weary of benefiting sentient beings in samsara, and being happy about it. Therefore, if one is controlled by karma and afflictions and wanders in samsara, one will be tormented by countless sufferings, and one will not be able to accomplish even one's own benefit, let alone the benefit of others. This is the gateway to all decline, so one should be even more weary of it than the Hinayana and reject it. However, one should be happy to take rebirth in samsara due to the power of vows and compassion, etc., so these two are not the same. If one does not distinguish these and still speaks as before, then if the speaker has the Bodhisattva vow, they will commit a defiled offense.
