The nature of non-existent things is one. So it is said. In its commentary, Naropa said: Because of doing the work of ultimate truth in the conventional, the nature of things is empty of that very nature. It is the nature of non-existence of things. Thus, the thing that can do things, and the thing that is inherently non-existent, are the same in nature. The meaning of saying that things and non-things are one has been clearly explained. Thus, after briefly showing the example of being free from the extremes of permanence and annihilation of the ground. Explaining the way to be free from the extremes of the path, samsara and nirvana: For worldly people, the reason for being non-existent by nature is that all parts are non-existent by nature, like the example of the flower in the sky. And the reason for being able to do things is that all parts are existent, like a vase, although the two cannot be combined on one basis. However, it is permissible for those who are beyond the world. Likewise, a person of the Hinayana or lower vehicle, having made sure not to fall into the extreme of annihilation nirvana where all the contaminated aggregates and so on are non-existent. All the contaminated aggregates of suffering and so on are existent, and one must abide in the existence of existence. If one does not abide in such existence, then one must abide in annihilation nirvana, but it is not permissible to make a third aggregate that is neither of the two, but a person who abides on the path of the Mahayana shows that it is permissible not to abide in both. Because annihilation nirvana is not in accordance with the Dharma, existence is all the contaminated objects of affliction. Because existence is not in accordance with the Dharma, annihilation nirvana is all such non-existent things. Therefore, the Hinayana and so on, with the path devoid of skillful means, although they cannot make the three aggregates that do not abide in the two. However, the Mahayana can make it not abide in the two. Also, in the Paramita and the lower tantras, there is also the way to block the two extremes of samsara and nirvana by the path, although there are excellent points, but here the way to block those extremes is different: The Vajra yogi cultivates the appearance of the form of the desired deity, father and mother, which is different from emptiness, thus blocking the extreme of annihilation nirvana. And the cultivation of the great bliss that is inseparable from the emptiness of selflessness, thus blocking the extreme of existence. Because the path suppresses the two extremes in this way,

The fruit transcends both extremes of samsara and nirvana. The form body of all aspects, and the co-emergent wisdom of bliss and emptiness, are accomplished as the union of support and supported. Through these two paths, the meaning of not abiding in samsara and nirvana is explained in the 'Summary of Empowerment'. The quotation from the 'Summary of Empowerment' has already been explained. Like this, the ability to function like a vase, and the non-existence of inherent nature like a flower in the sky, gathering on one entity, is suitable for the transcendent, but not suitable for the mundane. To explain this extensively, from 'Thus' to 'because of contradiction', it has already been explained before, and should be understood. The meaning of 'By what' etc. is: For worldly people, the reason for functioning in a conventional way is that whatever thing exists, relative to that conventional truth, it will not become non-existent in any way; and whatever does not exist in ultimate truth, relative to that ultimate truth, it will not become existent in any way, because the functioning thing and the true thing abide in the nature of non-inherent existence. This passage summarizes the meaning of non-contradiction of transcendent dharmas. Therefore, for a person who has not understood the view, the mind that grasps the dharma as having the characteristic of existing in any way that it functions, will not grasp the dharma as having the characteristic of not truly existing. What is the reason? Because the mind that grasps the characteristic of not truly existing will not grasp the characteristic of being able to function, because in that respect, functioning and emptiness of inherent nature are mutually contradictory. Therefore, if it is believed that the ability to function is truly established, and that if it is not truly established, it cannot function, then relative to such a person, it is impossible for those two to gather on the same basis. This passage summarizes the meaning of incompatible dharmas being contradictory for worldly people. Like this, having abandoned the examples of worldly people and explained the way of symbolizing with the examples of the transcendent, now, taking the great mudra of emptiness and form as the basis for determining the ultimate reality, to establish non-inherent existence with reasoning, because for all things, functioning and emptiness of inherent nature are not contradictory, so here also, emptiness and the form of the nature of great compassion
