The sixth ground is the lineage of Vajrasattva. The tantra says: The yogi who individually gathers, separated from object and aspect, is blessed by all mantras. The commentary on this says: Now the fruits of individually gathering and so on are spoken of. Individually and so on means that here, when the yogi who has made the body stable by individually gathering becomes pure, then all mantras will bless him, and will bestow the supreme gift of words and so on. And it is said that here, in the first action, individually gathering is the king of victors, the aggregate of wisdom. In the Compendium it says: By entering into samadhi with individual gathering, all mantras bless. In short, if the wind does not enter the dūtī, the mahāmudrā of the empty form that leads to the great bliss of the supreme unchanging cannot be accomplished, and meditating on gathering is the means of accomplishing such an empty form. Therefore, at the beginning of gathering, there is a meditation in which the wind enters the dūtī, and in the middle, meditating in that way binds the wind in the dūtī, cutting off the connection between the five senses and the five objects, and finally, through that means, seeing the empty form. When a black line the size of a hair is seen in the avadhūtī, then the limb of gathering is complete with characteristics, and from that point on, one meditates on the limb of stabilizing samādhi. Therefore, this has five limbs: first, the time of meditation; the limb of what is meditated on; the measure of pure distinction; the fruit. The first is when the ten signs of gathering are complete. Second, for what purpose is meditation practiced, the distinction of limbs, and the measure of the accomplishment of samādhi are shown. The first is that gathering is practiced in order to accomplish the form that has not been accomplished, and samādhi is practiced in order to stabilize the form that has already been accomplished. So, is another object meditated on to stabilize it? If so, how is it? It is by familiarizing oneself with that object that one makes it constantly stable. The second is: In the Compendium it says: Samādhi becomes five kinds, namely, conception, analysis, joy, bliss, and the mind's one-pointedness. Conception is seeing the coarse empty form. Analysis is seeing the subtle empty form.
