।। First, there are four parts: Explaining the realm of engaging in left-handed practices; Elaborately explaining left-handed practices; Teaching this method in a concealed manner; Declaring the title of the chapter. The first is: After the thirtieth chapter, the thirty-first chapter is to be explained. It destroys the lives of all malicious beings. Great flesh, such as human flesh burnt offerings, is born from the vajra, and is said to be infallible. The indivisible wisdom of the vajra, that is, the samadhi of the body of the vajra-holder born from it, is also explained for doing those things. This human flesh burnt offering destroys the lives of all malicious beings, is unbearable, and is said to be powerful. Is only human flesh needed? Thus, human flesh as well as the flesh of dogs and pigs, and the flesh of domestic birds with copper crests, if fierce burnt offerings are made, and if offerings of torma are made to the deities, they also destroy malicious beings. However, human flesh is more powerful for that task. In doing those three things, the actions of the left hand are mainly engaged. In doing so, without considering whether it is appropriate or not, but naturally realizing the clear light and then acting, then all the great siddhis such as swords, and all the remaining siddhis, will be accomplished, and Buddhahood itself will be achieved, and all the royal power of the wheel-turning king or the lords of the directions will be perfectly accomplished. Those meats should also be taken from those that were not killed by oneself. The ritualists say that conch shells and other three are purifiers, but skulls are impure and should not be taken. In response to what they say, conch shells, scallops, and pearls, all three are caused by non-virtuous actions, so why praise them as purifiers? Born from a great accumulation of merit, and being a very difficult to obtain body, who would denigrate that a human skull is not a purifier? It should not be denigrated. Why is the human body supreme? Because it is a special place for accomplishing the liberation of the Dharmakaya and the great bliss wisdom, therefore the human body is supreme. Thus it is said. Here, if all three are caused by causes, then recite "the body of the wisdom of the Dharma". Of conch shells, scallops, and pearls.

As it is said, "Because the three causes arise," the three causes of pearls, that is, because they arise from causes, should be connected in this way. Another translation says: Conch shells, clam shells, and pearls, all three arise from causes. Kaladana believes that, similar to arising from the causes of the aggregates, etc., conch shells, etc., are pure, but not skulls. Thus, it is said that there is no difference in causes. The hero also says that the cause is flesh, with no difference. However, the saying of Lavapa is good. Because human skulls also become pure. The hero, the Bhagavan, is adorned with garlands of dry and wet human skulls, and with a crescent moon as a head ornament. Just as the appearance of the waxing crescent moon gives rise to the full moon, so too, the fragments of the hero's skull, etc., are said to arise from the hero Heruka. The second has two parts: a general explanation of left-hand practices, and a specific explanation of left-hand offerings. The first is that the five symbols are the five goddesses, such as Vajravarahi, which are meditated upon based on the five skulls of the hair-knot crown. This is explained as meditating on the five dry skulls that are the essence of the five goddesses. Furthermore, the symbols of the five fingers, through the doors explained below, the yogi who accomplishes the siddhis of the mudras should give food and drink, etc., to those who have samaya with the left hand, and should enter well into the symbols of the hand. The reason for this is that this left hand is the place of heroes and heroines such as Vajrasattva. All sentient beings included in the flowing essence of the three realms and the non-flowing vessels arise from the left, so left-hand practices should be performed. Lavapa said: The left is wisdom, the nature of no self-nature. Being completely familiar with the conventional truth, it reveals the suchness that is the non-duality of all dharmas. Thus it is said. Kaladana quotes Nagarjuna: From the dharmas of emptiness, the dharmas of praise arise. Thus, all that is stable and unstable should be regarded as emptiness without self-nature. And that which points to meaning, that is, the left is regarded as female.
