Regarding the statement that it becomes a cause for enlightenment, it indicates that in certain situations, afflictions can transform into a cause for enlightenment, but it does not mean that for anyone who understands suchness, the afflictions of indulging in sensual pleasures will transform into a cause for enlightenment. Otherwise, the statements that require many aspects of means that are not the view of emptiness would become meaningless. Quoting the teachings of the Glorious Supreme One (Śrīparamādya), it is to show that the three afflictions can transform into both poison and nectar, so saying that the three afflictions are entirely poisons to be abandoned is only for certain individuals, not for everyone. The previous teaching of the *Ratnakūṭa Sūtra* shows that some afflictions of bodhisattvas can generate the Dharma of the Buddhas, thus showing that no affliction hinders the attainment of Buddhahood. The second teaching shows that afflictions seized by special skillful means and wisdom cannot lead one to fall into the lower realms, thus showing that for those unskilled in means, afflictions that hinder higher rebirths cannot cause hindrance to those who are the opposite. The meaning of the *Ratnakūṭa Sūtra*'s teaching is that bodhisattvas who have reached the other shore, although able to abandon the affliction of craving, which is the cause of rebirth in saṃsāra, intentionally do not abandon it but remain with it. The stated affliction refers to taking birth in order to perfect the vast conduct of bodhisattvas, thus becoming a cause for attaining enlightenment. Furthermore, regarding special supports like the Brahmin boy Star (Tāraka), if one accepts many desires, then that place has the prohibition of death, and if one accepts, then one can accept virtue as desired. The affliction of allowing sexual misconduct for this purpose is spoken of. Transforming such afflictions into a cause for enlightenment, and the way to transform attachment into the path on this path, are completely different. However, some afflictions seized by skillful means are a source for becoming a cause for enlightenment, so if afflictions arise from indulging in sensual pleasures, they will lead to lower realms and become an obstacle to enlightenment, and it is possible to avoid the fault of arguing that the teachings contradict each other. In the *Ugraparipṛcchā Sūtra*, the conduct of a bodhisattva householder is taught to those who cannot abandon household desires, however, those with attachment

The vehicle of does not approve of traveling the path, saying that one should enter into enjoyment with the concept of faults, so it is different from those who tame desire with the unsurpassed path. The words of the glorious supreme one in the Yoga Tantra also say: For the sake of increasing the Bodhicitta of one's own body, and as a method to increase one's own Bodhicitta by relying on another's body, although it does not show that there is no fault in using the desire of skillful means as a path, in general, it shows that there is something that can use the three afflictions as a path, so it can be considered upright. Then, even if lust is allowed, how are hatred and ignorance allowed? When doing violent actions such as killing and expelling, although there is no hatred at the time of the cause's intention, it is said that one should generate a rough mind at the time of the time's intention, and also at the time of initially meditating on the protective circle, etc., although compassion is generated at the time of the cause's intention, it is said that one should generate harmful thoughts towards obstacles at the time of the time's intention, etc., some of which belong to hatred, are allowed. Whether it is attachment or hatred, it arises in accordance with the affliction of ignorance, so it is allowed through the incidental way of allowing other afflictions. Ignorance is not specifically allowed. What is meant by "by what" is that, in general, attachment to desirable qualities, especially the attachment of the union of the two faculties, by what fools, being ignorant of the meaning of suchness, are bound in samsara, and the attachment that goes to the hells of weeping, etc., but by that skillful means, by the power of the wisdom that realizes suchness, will be liberated into great bliss, so when meditating on the mind of bliss and emptiness, for those who are not skillful means, it will become a cause of bondage, and for those who are skillful means, it will become a cause of liberation. The Hevajra also says: Attachment binds the world, desire liberates. Therefore, the affliction of attachment to desirable qualities itself has two causes of bondage and liberation, so the Vajra Garland says: Abandoning what should be done and what should not be done, because one also does forbidden things, like a lotus in the mud, knowing its own nature, the garment is not stained. What is said is also that although there is attachment to desirable qualities, it will not be stained by its faults.
