It is called practice. Therefore, if the three doors of body, speech, and mind are not comfortable through the objects of desire, one will not attain single-pointedness of mind, and one will not be able to keep the mind in equanimity. Therefore, it is said that one must practice the practice of bliss for this purpose, which is not just to accomplish the stability of single-pointed concentration, but to accomplish the samadhi of great innate bliss. The second has two parts: quoting what is said in the Compendium of Practices and explaining its meaning, and refuting other people's arguments against it. The first is: If it is said that one can attain Buddhahood by relying on the five objects of desire as one pleases, then, the three poisons of desire, anger, and ignorance, these are the three poisons of the world. How is it not contradictory to the scriptures that say that attachment to the five objects of desire is a poison to be abandoned, and that relying on the five objects of desire is the cause of the arising of afflictions, and therefore is the cause of bad destinies? The answer to this is in the Compendium of Practices: Afflictions become the cause of afflictions for those who focus on objects, such as the Shravakas.

Completely transformed, it becomes the cause for generating excellent and desirable fruits. In order to obtain the fruit of supreme great bliss, there is no other method of practice. For that purpose, merely through pleasures such as eating and dwelling, one can manifest the omniscience that possesses the eight great powers of merit, etc. It is also said in the Illusion of Supreme Bliss: "Therefore, with bliss, one obtains bliss itself; all Buddhas can be attained." Thus it is taught. Becoming a condition for afflictions, regarding this, in both the new and old translations of the Compendium of Practices, it is better to translate it as "becoming a cause for bad migrations." Regarding this, afflictions arise from relying on the five objects, and that also becomes a cause for bad migrations. If one argues in this way, then for the afflictions that arise from relying on objects, for those such as the Hearers who have not realized suchness, it is a cause for bad migrations, and for those who have realized it, it will become a cause for Buddhahood. This is how the answer is divided into two. It was not said that relying on desirable qualities does not give rise to afflictions. In general, as previously stated, for those who are not free from attachment to desirable qualities, it is not contradictory for the pursuit of desirable qualities such as food and clothing to arise. Merely experiencing the three types of desirable qualities, desirable and undesirable, with the five senses, and merely the arising of the mind's consciousness pursuing desirable qualities, does not turn one into an afflicted being. However, here, it is mainly taught from the perspective of not being separated from attachment to desirable qualities. Among desirable qualities, it is also being examined whether it is appropriate to use the attachment of the union of the two organs as a path. Since one has not separated from attachment to desire and does not possess the wisdom of realizing suchness, if one relies on desirable qualities as one pleases, then afflictions of attachment to them will arise, and those will also become a cause for bad migrations. Therefore, no affliction can be transformed into a cause for liberation alone, so it is not permitted either. Even for Hinayana practitioners who possess the wisdom of realizing suchness, no affliction can be transformed into a cause for enlightenment. Because for them, there is no part of the method for transforming it in that way, neither the Paramita nor the Mahayana of Mantra is taught, and transforming it in that way also depends on both skillful means and wisdom, two special conditions. Therefore, if one understands the suchness of afflictions, one should...
