The light is said to be eleven in number, and the ground of faith and practice and the ground of the first karma of ordinary beings are also mentioned. In the tantras, the number of grounds is said to be twelve, thirteen, and fourteen. As for the establishment of names, the Vajra Heart Ornament Tantra mentions twelve, such as the Universal Light and the Ambrosia Light. Like the twelve abodes mentioned in the Hevajra and Sambhuta, these are inconsistent. Like the ten grounds mentioned in the Extremely Joyful, there are also consistent name establishments. Among them, the ground of faith and practice and the Universal Light are said to exist in the Manne and other treatises from the perspective of meaning. Are the former twelve grounds similar to the latter? The three different name establishments of the thirteen are as stated by Abhaya, and since those appear as holy grounds, if faith and practice are added to them, then the Vajra Ground is the fourteenth ground. Therefore, although the number of grounds is more than the Paramitas, it is not considered that there is a higher ground than the eleven Universal Light grounds. The Root Tantra says: The Bodhisattva who abides in the ten grounds will transform. Regarding the meaning stated at the time of union, the Lamp Illuminating Meaning says: The ten grounds are the ten rays of light, which means abiding on them. Although there are such statements, the ten grounds mentioned earlier refer to the ten grounds such as the Extremely Joyful. The generation stage says that the eighth ground is attained, and the Vajra recitation also says that the eighth ground is attained. The first is combined with the immediate attainment of the eighth ground, and the second is the eighth ground of the Paramitas. From this, it can be inferred that it should also be known to combine with the ninth ground, which is considered to be the category of the body isolation of the completion stage being included in the Vajra recitation. The Five Stages say: Seeing the three appearances, one abides on the tenth ground. The Compendium of Practices says that after realizing body, speech, and mind, one attains the ten grounds. These two, as stated in the Lamp Illuminating Meaning of the sixth chapter, the three of body, speech, and mind are stated as the three of appearance, increase, and attainment, and this is taken as the same meaning and combined with mind isolation and the tenth ground. When the Black Practitioner explains the combination of seeing the three appearances with the tenth ground, he says it is the attainment of self-blessing. If it is said that the illusory body is attained by relying on mind isolation, then this combination with the tenth ground is the meaning of the Compendium of Practices. This is combined with the upper part of the tenth ground of the Paramitas. The lower part of the tenth ground is the Clear Light.

And the establishment of the union of learning is known from the previous explanation of how the unsurpassed path is added to the tenth bhumi of the Paramita. It is also known that the elevenfold union of no-more-learning is established in the All-illuminating. The fact that the tantras say that clear light is the thirteenth bhumi is also in relation to the adhimukti-carya-bhumi, and it also represents the union of learning. If the way of combining the bhumis is like that, then when the path of each stage, such as the generation stage, reaches its culmination, will the qualities of those bhumis, such as the Joyful, be fully attained? Or is it like combining the fourteen empowerments with each bhumi, and combining one sadhana with the five paths, and combining the remaining practice into clear light, etc., with the three kayas, is it combined through a door of similar common dharma? If you think like that, even if you obtain the illusory body of the third stage, if you do not manifest clear light, as it is said in the sutras, you will revert to samsara due to the power of afflictions. Therefore, merely reaching the culmination of that path's own stage, not only will you not attain the tenth bhumi, but you will not even attain the status of an arya. Therefore, those ways of combining are not attained in the way of fully attaining the qualities of the Joyful and other bhumis. Because if it is established that by perfecting the generation stage, one can actually attain the Immovable Bhumi, there will be many other faults. Therefore, just as the Paramita Vehicle says that traversing up to the tenth bhumi is a substitute for traversing from the generation stage to the illusory body of this path, the paths of this vehicle can also substitute for other vehicles traversing up to those bhumis for enlightenment. Therefore, it is said that by attaining those, one attains up to the ten bhumis, but it is not necessary to attain exactly the same qualities of the paths as they are. Moreover, since the generation stage is the ripening cause that completely generates the realization of the completion stage, its final complete ripening is just after obtaining the eighth bhumi, and the previous stages that cause it to ripen are combined with the seven bhumis, but do not say that this difference of the generation stage is this one of the seven bhumis. When the generation stage reaches its culmination, one can enter into a very stable samadhi that does not discriminate in the ordinary way, and one can enter as one wishes, and also because one has obtained the complete purity of the vessel and essence world appearing as a mandala and deity, it is also the same as the eighth bhumi. Before that, first rely on body seclusion, and then practice speech seclusion.
