This is inconsistent with all standard treatises, and it also seems to contradict one's own root vows. Even in the instructions of each tantra from Lama Marpa, there are many different oral instructions from many different lamas, so it cannot be certain that all of these are instructions from Naropa. Then, regarding the Five Stages: "Freed from the real and the unreal, The Vajrasattva well depicted, In the mirror without stain, The image appears clearly and is similar, Endowed with the excellence of all forms, The body is never satiated by looking, Shown to the good disciple, That is explained as self-blessing." What is the meaning of what is said? It refers to the body of Vajradhara, free from the two extremes, like a painted image appearing in a clear and stainless mirror, that body is endowed with the excellence of all names and forms, and one never tires of looking at it. Combining the image in the mirror and the illusory body as metaphor and meaning, the meaning of showing it to the disciple is what is called self-blessing. It does not mean to meditate by focusing on the image appearing in the mirror, and then through imagination, gathering it into oneself, showing the deity's body as an illusory body. If that were the case, then the other metaphors would also need to be treated in the same way. Among the twelve metaphors, the image in the three metaphors mentioned in the Five Stages refers to the painted image of Vajradhara, not to ordinary images, it is a metaphor for the simultaneous completion of all parts of the body. The metaphor of the rainbow refers to being unobstructed and the colors not being mixed. The metaphor of the water moon refers to the fact that a single illusory body can emanate many forms in accordance with the different beings to be tamed. In Self-Blessing, it says, "By these, one meditates on the body." These three metaphors speak of meditating on the illusory body, which means to determine and meditate through these metaphors. If it is like the two illusory body practices of meditating by focusing on the image in the mirror, then there is no need to perfect the generation stage and the three solitudes in order to practice it. If in the Vimalaprabha and others, relying on the appearance of the experience of the withdrawal stage being explained as self-blessing, one says it is an illusory body, then all eight appearances from mirage to appearing as black as Rahu would need to be considered illusory bodies, that

Therefore, it is unreasonable to explain the appearance of the deity's body only at the end of the reverse process as the illusory body. In the Kalachakra, the signs such as mirages are mentioned in the context of the withdrawal stage, because the winds of the senses tend to enter ordinary realms and approach reversal, which is a sign of the time of inward reversal. The four phenomena such as mirages that appear in the context of mind isolation etc., are signs that appear after those four emptinesses. For this, it has been explained many times that it is necessary for the wind to enter and dissolve into the dhuti channel. Therefore, seeing the images of the sun, moon, and Rahu in the withdrawal stage, and the moonlight etc. of the three emptinesses cannot have the same meaning. In short, through the completion of the Vajra recitation, when generating the emptinesses of mind isolation, when conceptualization and the wind that drives it dissolve, if one can understand well the structure of the sensory consciousness even dissolving before that, one will not have the doubt of whether one needs to meditate by looking with the eyes when practicing the illusory body. In general, in the post-attainment, whatever appears is a false illusion. In this case, in the stages of the three isolations and the illusory body, guiding great bliss and combining it with the thorough realization of emptiness is what one should strive for. As for the post-attainment, attachment to thoughts such as whether one likes the image or whether it exists is not important for preventing the clinging to reality. If one gains certainty through the wisdom consciousness that completely destroys all the targets of clinging to reality in external and internal phenomena, then in this case, the way things appear as illusions depends on a good understanding of Madhyamaka reasoning. It is said in the Five Stages that by obtaining the illusory body, whatever action one engages in, one should view it as an illusion. Although there is a view of illusion common to the Paramita Vehicle, the view of illusion uncommon to the Paramita Vehicle refers to viewing the primordial body of all sentient beings as merely wind and mind, etc., as mentioned before. If the meditation on wind becomes very skilled, then for the realms such as pure lands that one wants to appear, first send out its projection, and then control the combination of winds. Although those appearances will appear like illusions, there is no mention of doing meditation in this way in the Wheel of the Holy Ones. When meditating on illusion, the two meditations
