In that very text, it says, "In truth, the mind is merely an appearance, devoid of shape and color. Its nature is the same as space, and like ultimate truth, it is difficult to touch. However, the three appearances of mere appearance rely on wind, and because they are common, they are light. Therefore, wind binds consciousness. Then, the two appearances of wisdom and means, accompanied by rays of light, possessing all kinds of qualities, will manifest as an illusory deity body. What is the mount of this deity? It is called wind, that is, the mind vajra, riding on a horse-like mount, can move to wherever it desires." This is what is said. In its commentary, it also says, "In truth." If someone asks, "Are the causes and conditions of illusion established in ultimate truth?" Even if the mind is not established in ultimate truth, in conventional truth, the three appearances are combined with wind, therefore, wind binds consciousness, causing it to wander." This statement is answered from the perspective of the two truths. It does not help to resolve the previous doubts, and the statement that wind causes it to wander is an irrelevant answer, so it is meaningless. Therefore, the mind is without color and shape, and is the same as space, that is, similar, not corporeal, and like ultimate truth, it is difficult to touch, difficult to realize. "In truth" means it is true. It is also said in the context of mind isolation, so it can be known. The mind is not corporeal, but even so, the three appearances of mind isolation rely on wind, therefore, wind binds consciousness, that is, grasps consciousness. Most of the old translations appear as before, and some translations say, "Because they are common, they mix." And the Chag translation says, "The wind of the three appearances has also become a realm, that is the support, that is, lightness." The former means that wind and consciousness mix, just as wind is light, consciousness also becomes light. Some people say this, but if the meaning of lightness is explained as being more subtle than other arising things, and explained as a common dharma that can mix with consciousness, then it is consistent with the chapter on mind isolation in the Compendium of Practice. After the wind and mind mix, the wisdom appearance and the two sister means, from the wind and five rays of light, arise signs such as hands and feet.

A deity's illusory body endowed with qualities will arise. In summary, if there is only mind without wind, then from that, a deity's body with face, hands, etc., cannot be accomplished. However, since the wind and mind of the five-colored rays are of the same essence, there is no problem in accomplishing the deity's form. This shows that even if there is only the consciousness of the deity's appearance, even if there is an appearance of form, the illusory body will not actually be accomplished. Although it is said that there are wisdom and means, since all three appearances have been explained before, the basis for the accomplishment of the illusory body is similar to the five stages. Regarding cause and condition, the immediate cause of the mind for the accomplishment of the illusory body is the previous mind, and the accompanying condition is the wind; and the immediate cause of its body is the wind, and the previous mind is the accompanying condition. The heart vajra of the three wisdoms, like riding one's own mount, the wind horse, goes wherever it wants, which means that when the illusory body is accomplished from the innate body of the wind and mind of mind-emptiness, it separates from the gross body and can go wherever it wants, outside or inside the body. This meaning is clearly explained in the Compendium of Conduct and in the Sutra of the Transference of Consciousness. The sutra says that the limbs, etc., of the intermediate state that are formed after death are like the shadow of a person appearing in water, without cold, heat, pleasure, pain, fatigue, etc., and without flesh and blood, etc., like something that cannot be destroyed by the elements. In the Destruction of Change, it says, "This consciousness initially abandons the body of the transferring body and becomes like the appearance of another form." After quoting these words, it says, as quoted before, "Therefore, the existence between the beings of each child is called the cause of samsara." Although the sutra does not clearly explain the illusory body, it is very clear as an example of establishing the illusory body that a body with limbs, etc., is accomplished from just wind and mind, and that it is separated from the old aggregates. And, for those who do not possess means, the wind and mind that will appear in the bardo, for those who are skilled in means, will appear as an illusory deity, considering this, the sutra clearly explains this.
