abiding in various states. Samsara itself should be known.” Thus it was said. The first verse shows that sentient beings do not arise independently without relying on the clear light of death that precedes them. Therefore, all clear light arises from emptiness. The second verse shows that by the power of the wind-mind of the clear light of death, sentient beings take birth, and that the wind-mind that wanders in samsara appears to the skillful yogi as an illusory body and attains perfect enlightenment. Although the commentators on the five stages of meaning have explained the meaning of that verse differently, the previous explanation is its meaning, because in the Compendium of Practices it says: “The cause of samsara for ordinary beings, namely existence and the intermediate state, will be transformed into an illusory body for those who possess the oral instructions.” The third verse shows that there is no creator of birth and death other than the nature of wind-mind, so it is only that which wanders in samsara. In the self-blessing, when showing the basis for the practice of the illusory body: The elements of earth and so on, as well as the four emptinesses, are the causes of birth and destruction, these eight things should be known. From the clear light, emptiness is great, from that, skillful means truly arise. From that, wisdom arises, from that, wind arises. From wind, fire truly arises, from fire, water universally arises, from water, earth arises, sentient beings are born like this. And then, from “the element of earth dissolves into water” to “the three existences cease in this way,” as quoted before. Then it says: “Thus, from beginningless time, one will enter the wheel of existence. With illusion-like samadhi, until one has not seen one's own nature. Because illusion is self-knowing, it is not the realm of speculators. Even if one dwells in one's own body, one will not find it because of small merit.” This also clearly shows the basis for the practice of the illusory body. Thus, with illusion-like samadhi, until one has not seen one's own nature, one will enter the wheel of existence. Entering samsara, as it is said, has two aspects: wandering in samsara and the continuous flow of the habits of samsara. The cessation of the first requires illusion-like samadhi, which is the common illusion of mantra and paramita.

The samadhi of. For the illusion-like samadhi needed to reverse the afterlife, there are also two types: common and uncommon. Among the uncommon ones, there are also bliss-emptiness union and illusory body, but here it refers to the latter. When explaining the basis for accomplishing the illusory body, it is said that there is no other agent besides wind and mind. This is because, although the imputed meaning of a person imputed as a sentient being is not wind and mind, the basis for imputation, the innate body of sentient beings, is to be recognized. The Vajra Garland also says: 'Other than one's own life, which has become the essence, there is nothing else in the three realms. The illusory body of the three realms is made of wind, seen like a dream.' Therefore, the essence of sentient beings is their own life, which is wind. Other than wind, there is no other body of the three realms. Therefore, the illusory body of the three realms accomplished by wind is said to be like a dream body. Here, the emphasis of the words is mainly on explaining the basis for accomplishing the illusory deity, but it can also be applied to the deity. Therefore, the Lamp Illuminating quotes wind and mind as the source for generating the illusory deity. Therefore, the Vajra Garland says: 'Birth, abiding, and destruction, as well as existence in the intermediate state, as long as the world exists, are all transformations of the wind of the mind.' This means that the birth, aging, sickness, death, and intermediate state of sentient beings are all transformations of wind and mind. The Prophecy of Intentions also says: 'Those with and without perception, established as sentient beings, all arise from wind and cease from wind again. The unawakened mind, even if it dwells in the ocean of samsara, due to inversion, the mind will become a dog, jackal, elephant, and even a horse.' And so on, explaining that wind and mind both transform into various kinds of beings. This means that all beings are just bodies of wind and mind, which is to explain that the innate body, which is the basis for establishing sentient beings, is just a body of wind and mind, and that there is no other innate body of a different essence. It is not saying that there is no external environment, nor is it saying that the coarse body of fruition is not the body of a sentient being. Such a mind
