Therefore, that word "also" indicates that there, just as before, one only generates the deity through faith, and there is no other way. So, what does Vajra recitation do? Through the three stages of entering, abiding, and rising, the basic wind of Vajra recitation becomes very workable, and it is only through this means that sounds are understood as being like echoes in a valley. In the Compendium of Practices, in the chapter on stages, it is said that Vajra recitation knows the life force. It is also said in the Vajra Garland that it knows the characteristics of the wind. The word "only" cuts off the generation of the deity at that time, not just faith and attention. Even until the ultimate end of mind isolation, one cannot find the illusory body deity that possesses all the supreme qualities and marks. And the word "also" is a summary of the previous reasons, that is, as before. So, what does it do? One must know that the appearance of self-nature is the name of appearance, and the self-nature of appearance is the name of thought. It is only knowing the three emptinesses of the appearance of self-nature. Because at that time, the yogi understands his own mind as merely an appearance empty of all thoughts. Some previous assembly members, explaining the absence of a deity as the absence of a union deity, do not understand the meaning of the chapter. Explaining the latter three reasons as proof that the three of body, speech, and mind do not have a deity, and relying on false conventional thoughts and concepts to meditate on the three isolations, therefore one cannot obtain the union body, this is also not seeing the point. In the Changed Text, there is a saying "not relying on the conventional," but it is better to translate it as before. If one does not thoroughly understand the meaning of these questions in the Compendium of Practices, then one will also not understand the meaning of the instructions on the key points of the illusory body in this supreme tradition, so one must understand it well. The second part is divided into two points: how it is explained before the actual illusory body, and the explanation of the stages of the illusory body itself. The first point is: Hearing the request to explain the illusory body, the guru generates compassion for the disciple and explains it. This instruction cannot be found anywhere other than in the oral instructions of the guru, as it is said in the Five Stages: Knowing the stage of self-blessing, that is, showing the conventional truth, this can only be obtained through the kindness of the guru, not elsewhere. Thus it is said.

I (say): From the Compendium of Practices (spyod bsdus), I shall comprehend the suchness of the deities, which is inconceivable, spoken by all the Buddhas, coming from the lineage of the gurus, and is not the realm of even the masters of the ten bhumis. And also in the Self-Blessing (bdag byin brlabs) it says: The Dharma is like a dream, like an illusion, All the Buddhas speak of it, although it is true, it is not known by that. Looking back from the Self-Blessing, The mind's nature, connected with the wind of consciousness, is like a bow, one's own wisdom is not seen by it. Bewildered by the example of illusion, In countless kalpas, even if one goes beyond hearing, without the guru's command, illusion cannot be manifested. Therefore, those who desire the fruit of Buddhahood, Should completely abandon pride, and riding the Vajrayana, diligently please the guru. Thus it is said. The meaning of "ten bhumis" and so on is, as it is said in the Compendium of Practices and the Five Stages (rim lnga), that after obtaining mental solitude and abiding on the tenth bhumi, it is not possible to realize it at that time. If it is said in terms of the tenth bhumi of the Paramita Vehicle, then it is not possible to realize it through one's own path. The Lamp Illuminating (sgron gsal) also says: The yoga of the completely pure deity is also beyond all concepts, known by each individual, the realm of activity of the Buddhas, abiding within the jewel casket of the heap of jewels, free from the sides of existence and non-existence, not the realm of those who follow the letters and the logicians, but is to be known only from the guru's oral instructions. Thus, if the meaning of the six ultimate tantras is not well explained, then the pure illusory body, which is not the realm of those who follow the letters literally, Must be known only from the guru's oral instructions. Thus, it is said that it should be explained in the presence of the Protector Nagarjuna (mGon po klu sgrub). The pure illusory body must be realized only through the guru's oral instructions, and it is the same for the illusory body of the third stage. The ultimate of the oral instructions for knowing the illusory body only from the guru's oral instructions is the Five Stages and the Compendium of Practices, and a little also appears in the oral instructions of other sons. Among them, what is not clear in the Five Stages is clearly shown in the Compendium of Practices, so it must be realized from the Compendium of Practices. What is not covered by these texts
