In the Vajra Garland, it says: "All the channels descend, The bodhicitta is stabilized. At the tip of the vajra and the tip of the lotus, The wind is held for an instant. With the combination of letters on the palate, With the combination of the mantra (Tibetan: ཀྵྨཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: क्ष्मां, Sanskrit Romanization: kṣmāṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: earth). It is said that supreme yoga is attained." Its meaning is: By the method of the bodhicitta melting from the descending channels, supreme yoga is attained by stabilizing at the two tips of the nose. The method of stabilization, the commentary says: The palate is the extremely long channel in the center of the Dharma origin, and the combination of striking it is extremely tightly bound, (Tibetan: ཀྵྨཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: क्ष्मां, Sanskrit Romanization: kṣmāṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: earth) is meditating on the tip of the vajra, and the wind is held for an instant, it is said that supreme yoga is attained by meditating on the nature of the life wind. Thus, the combination of striking the palate, it is said, is attained. Another translation, "held by the wind," is better. The combination of letters on the palate, with the syllable (Tibetan: ཀྵཱིཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: क्षीं, Sanskrit Romanization: kṣīṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: decay) mantra combination, is not good. Holding the tip of the vajra in this way is also holding the tip of the lotus nose, at the junction of the two channels. The root tantra also says, "Enjoy all desires, recite the limbs of the mantra without impairment." Therefore, for some yogis with great distinction, relying on action mudra at this time is not contradictory. Here, meditation is also based on wisdom mudra. If one can understand what is said in the Lamp Illuminating, as a guide to the five stages, then the life force of gathering the wind into the central channel is extremely clear. In the Lamp Illuminating, the translation of "that upward-going breath, five colors" is better translated by Patsab as "that breath." Therefore, the wind previously described as the breath of wisdom and arising, going upward to the doors of the senses, is five colors, the nature of the five Tathagatas. Therefore, it is precious. Life is living, and diligence is lengthening and expanding, diligence is the meaning of effort, it is said in the old translation, Patsab translated it as "by what lengthening and expanding, therefore it is life diligence" is better. Its meaning is that the wind that lengthens life, that is, lifespan, is called life diligence.
