As explained in the Garland Treatise, it not only prevents the entry and exit of air through the upper nostrils, but also prevents the entry and exit of air through the lower nostrils. This should also be done by vigorously lifting the body upwards. Although the breath stops a little faster, it doesn't matter. It would be better if the flow of air could be stopped with a gentle method like Vajra recitation. Even when holding the combined wind passage, it should be understood in this way. If the descending air enters and exits through the two lower nostrils, is it possible to perform the recitation of entry and exit like the upper nostrils? In response to this, the oral instructions of the Tibetan lamas involve generating bliss through the method of opening and closing the lower gate. Although it is not given the name of recitation of entry and exit, if one contemplates carefully, its meaning is the same as performing it in the upper gate. This method is also mentioned in Atisha's "Song of Dharma": Cease the movement of the sun and moon, In that great gate of space, Berampa will not enter again, With the means of opening and closing, Arouse the wrathful consort, The five Buddhas and four mothers are burned again and again, The heroes and yoginis of the ten directions, Merge into Jalandhara, Four lotus petals and four bindus, Sixteen joys arise in succession, The self-appearing wisdom with form, Abides in the heart essence of the lotus, When abiding on the tip of the jewel, Like a lamp, it passes into nirvana, When abiding on the tip of the jewel, At the time of passing into nirvana, All thoughts of self and other, It cannot see anything at all. When the sun and moon are consumed by Rahu, The mind and Berampa do not move, When all thoughts dissolve and merge, The mind abides in the realm of reality. This speaks of a special method for introducing air into the dūti channel. This meaning is also mentioned in the Great Seal of Emptiness: By the method of opening and closing, The wind enters into the fire, The true tree of sovereignty, With this, the fierce fire mother blazes, The form of the aggregates of discrimination, All bodies are burned, By the true blazing of that fire. As said before. From this, one can also understand the method of performing the recitation of entry and exit through the water passage. Although the Vajra recitation of the upper part alone can accomplish both of these meanings, if one wants to specifically target and control the descending air in the lower part,

It should be done by relying on obtaining the previously existing basis of the oral instructions. If the downward-clearing air is forcibly reversed, there will be great obstacles such as the blockage of feces and urine. If the flowing is reversed through gentle practice that is skilled in the key points of the oral instructions, then the feces and urine will be reduced, and there will be no need to excrete frequently, and there will be not even a slight discomfort in that, and the blazing power of tummo will be extremely great, so the bliss will be supremely great, and no matter how much the essence melts, there will be no need to worry about transference, and so forth, these signs will appear. So, when tummo blazes from reciting the vajra and meditating on the indestructible at the heart center, and the bodhicitta melts, as it is explained in the tantra of the yoginis, should it be lowered to between the jewels, and based on that, should the four joys be generated? Or should it be gathered from above and below into the heart center, and the four emptinesses be generated? This will be explained in the context of mind isolation. Here, many people see that it is somewhat faster to do forceful practices such as blocking the winds, and because they have not clearly distinguished the differences in how the qualities of the immediate and the ultimate arise from gentle and rough practices, they assume that all the methods of pressing on the vital points of the body must be done forcefully and meditate in that way. Regarding that, some see it as a very great obstacle and turn away from meditating on those, while others think that even if there is a very great obstacle, one must become skilled in the methods of removing the obstacles and meditate. The way to remove obstacles is: some say that when the winds gather and do not listen to calming down, causing pain, one should meditate on the practice of many orifices and expel those winds outwards. But many others pacify the pain caused by the gathering of winds through other methods. Regarding that, some say that if one strives to gather the winds, but when they gather, one does not make an effort to make them enter the central channel, but instead pacifies them, then the effort is meaningless, because there is no key instruction. But their own system praises making them enter the central channel through the practice of the method of doubly squeezing the waves of enjoyment, thereby pacifying the pain. Everyone seems to agree that the initial forceful practice method is compatible. Therefore, if one meditates by wrapping up the channels, winds, and so forth, it is not certain that a great obstacle that takes life or is close to taking life will arise. That is a fault of not having properly determined the initial way of managing, not just a matter of knowledge.
