Regarding the very nature of the causal wind, there is no clear explanation of what the wind and its sound are. Je Gös only elaborates on the sound of the voice, but not on the written letters, so the scholars who follow this tradition also think the same way. Many followers of the Mar tradition believe that the wind channels are like threads, with three letters written as if strung together like beads. In the seventh chapter of the Root Tantra, the "Lamp Illuminating the Definitive Meaning" (Tibetan: Nges don sgron gsal) explains the statement "The beggar eats but does not recite" by quoting the intention and saying, "Different letters are the beggar. Reciting them is eating. Therefore, they are considered to be eating the beggar." This explains the difference in Vajra recitation, where wind and mantra are recited separately. Therefore, one must rely on it to understand non-separation. In this regard, the Sanskrit word for beggar is bhikṣu (Sanskrit Devanagari: भिक्षु, Sanskrit Romanization: bhikṣu, literal Chinese meaning: beggar), and etymologically, bhinna (Sanskrit Devanagari: भिन्न, Sanskrit Romanization: bhinna, literal Chinese meaning: different) means different, and akṣara (Sanskrit Devanagari: अक्षर, Sanskrit Romanization: akṣara, literal Chinese meaning: letter) means letter. Therefore, uttering wind and letters separately is eating the beggar. Therefore, when separating wind and mantra, the mantra refers to uttering the sound, not thinking about the written form. Therefore, to make wind and mantra non-separate, one must make it non-separate from the sound of the mantra, not non-separate from the written form. Also, the sound is the external speech when spoken, but the "Compendium of Conduct" (Tibetan: Spyod bsdus) says that it is the internal speech, so it is not that. Even if it is not spoken, it is not the sound of imagining the form of speaking in the mind. Therefore, the natural sound of the three aspects of wind entering, abiding, and rising should be considered as three letters here. The meaning of combining wind and mantra without separation is to combine the natural sound of the wind with the sound of the mantra without separation. When the wind is sounding like the sound of three letters, one recognizes it and focuses on it without distraction. This is the practice of recitation here. In this regard, the "Lamp" (Tibetan: Sgron gsal) says that it is mental recitation, which is completely different from the mental recitation of imagining the form of reciting the mantra with the effort of the tongue and palate, so it should be well distinguished. The meaning of combining wind and mantra without separation is that it must appear as one in the mind. If it is not done as before, it will not appear as one in the mind. The instruction says: When the wind abides in the body, slightly...

Regarding the point of "should be slightly prolonged," some scholars say that the view of the tantra commentary is that one should abide without fabrication, just as the wind stays. This is not reasonable because it is not explained that there are only twenty-one thousand six hundred breaths in a day, counting both exhalation and inhalation as one. If one abides without fabrication, since there is no abiding that is not exhalation or inhalation, the vajra recitation of the three stages of rising, entering, and abiding would not be possible. Therefore, if one does the vajra recitation of two syllables as it is said, it is sufficient to do without fabrication. However, for three syllables, one must deliberately make a pause in between, as it comes from the instructions of both Marpa and Ngok. As it says in the Oral Instructions: "When the nature of Āḥ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ) abides, hold it gently, it is said four times." Although many think that the inner abiding should be longer than the rising and entering, it is best to follow the view of Lord Ngok that all three are equal. When the wind exhales outward, purify all phenomena and transform them into nectar, coming in the nature of A (Tibetan: ཨ), washing away the habitual tendencies of one's own continuum. And the Oral Instructions say that the nature of Āḥ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ) can also purify one's own continuum. The Drop of Liberation says: "Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese Meaning: 吽) at the time of expanding Buddhas etc., accomplishes all stable dharmas. A (Tibetan: ཨ) at the time of gathering Buddhas etc., accomplishes all moving dharmas. Āḥ (Tibetan: ཨཱཿ) at the time of holding Buddhas etc., causes all stable and moving dharmas to enter into non-dual wisdom." It is said that accomplishing means purifying, as explained in the commentary. It is not said to do so in the Collection of Noble Ones. Some think that it is shown in the Five Stages by "The syllable Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese Meaning: 吽) truly expands sentient beings," etc., but this is not the meaning. In the Five Meanings, it says to practice the vajra recitation of three syllables about twenty-one times each. Moreover, if the number is large, the body is comfortable, it is easy to hold the wind, and the actual vajra recitation is: the upper wind is pressed down by A (Tibetan: ཨ), the lower wind is drawn up by Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུཾ, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese Meaning: 吽), and one meditates with the wind mouths joined at the heart. In the Four Meanings, it is said that by doing the vajra recitation of three syllables, the wind does not move, but enters into the middle of the dhūtī, and from this arises the experience of bliss and emptiness. The vajra recitation should be done until the end. In the Wheel Holder, it is also said that by repeatedly doing one hundred and eight vajra recitations, etc., five signs will appear. Thus, it seems that there are inconsistencies.
