From the order of stages, although what is said is like that, it is said to be the twelve suns. This is when bodhicitta descends up and down, it descends with blood. Regarding this, each of the four places is divided into four parts, and one experiences one bliss at each dividing point. Each of the four places is divided into three parts, and at each dividing point, through the way of dust falling, bliss is divided into three types: small, medium, and large. It is necessary for someone with experience to know this, because it appears very subtle. The Oral Instruction Garland says that the four Sahajas of the lower stability are divided into small, medium, and great of the great. From the four blisses of the upward descent, the four of the lower stability must produce a greater bliss. During the time of lower stability, if the reversion is not stable on the crown of the head, the bliss is not stable. After it is stable on the crown of the head, it is said to be stable. As it says in that very text: 'After that, mind is on top of life. Because of its disharmony, it will descend. Situated in the center of the lotus's navel, when that becomes stable from the outside, at that time, the protector will not move. Just as in a container without holes, water remains without being exhausted, at that time, bliss becomes stable. Because of stability, the joy born together, therefore, the inexhaustible Buddha, the yogi will definitely attain.' So it is said. Mind is semen, disharmony is reversal, and stability is the crown of the head, as stated in the Oral Instruction Garland. Hand measurement: when bodhicitta drips from the crown of the head, it is appearance; when it falls on the joints of all limbs, it is increase; when one bindu emanates from the tip of the vajra, it is near attainment; when it is stable at that very tip, light arises. Also, the first two are similar; when one goes to the tip or center of the vajra, it is near attainment; when one dwells inside the jewel, light arises. These are also said to be the four joys, and there are many similar to these. Thubpa Pal said that when one reaches the root of the vajra, it is appearance; when one goes to the center of the jewel, it is near attainment; and light arises at the tip of the jewel. By the force of what is said, when one reaches from the root of the vajra to the neck of the jewel, one must assume that increase arises. In the Great Seal Bindu, the four joys are said to be appearance, increase, near attainment (the three), and light (the fourth). In the Root Explanation of the Guhyasamaja Tantra and in the texts of the Five Stages of Arya, the four joys are said to be the four emptinesses.
