Due to the stirring of the great wind, it brings forth the self-nature discriminations. Therefore, it is said that the root of the self-nature discriminations of all sentient beings is the three appearances. As it is said in the Vajramala: 'Possessing the nature of the three appearances, here one hears the three consciousnesses, this is the self-nature root of all sentient beings.' And it is said: 'This is the great wind element, it is the mount of the three consciousnesses, it causes the self-nature to constantly, as it is, to move.' And also in the Five Stages, it is said: 'When it is united with appearance, it becomes the mount of wind. At that time, all self-nature, completely and without omission, arises. Wherever the wind dwells, the self-nature follows it.' Thus it is said. Self-nature discriminations generate afflictions, and by accumulating karma, one is born into samsara. As it is said in the Vajramala: 'Like an object burned by fire disappears, without cause it dissolves and goes. Again, the wind of life arises, the wind of karma is diverse. It together with consciousness, again dwells in the three realms. From this, karma arises, and likewise birth. From this, habits such as attachment, from this again death and birth, thus it is like a wheel turning.' Thus it is said. As it is said, it does not take self-grasping as the root of samsara, but shows wind as the root of samsara. It is also said so in the Compendium of Conduct. Relying on grasping 'I' and 'mine', one creates virtuous and non-virtuous actions, the order of entering the cycle of samsara in the happy and miserable realms is established by the three sutras such as the Eight Thousand Verse Prajnaparamita Sutra. To clarify the meaning of these, Nagarjuna said: 'If all this is emptiness, and is unborn self-nature, then happiness and suffering etc. enter here, how does one revolve in samsara by karma? As soon as one clings to 'I', immediately defiled by stains such as desire, controlled by others through thought, children are tormented by suffering. All these are only mind, truly arising as illusions. After that, virtuous and non-virtuous actions, by this one is born in happy and miserable realms.' Thus it is taught. This is the common view of both the Sutra and Tantra schools. Therefore, it is said that wind generates samsara.

, it should be known that it is the common contributing factor for the arising of samsara due to afflictions such as self-grasping. This is the common function of all the winds, and the individual functions are: The function of the life-sustaining wind, as stated in the Vajramala: "The constant function of the sense gates, is life and effort to act, constantly moving at all times, is said to be life." Here, there are many different translations of the Vajramala, and in the texts that quote it, but the meaning is: The arising and entering of the winds in the five sense gates is constant, mainly due to its power, and it is sustained by this, therefore it is called life, and making it grow long is the meaning of effort, therefore Abhyakara believes that it has the function of sustaining life for a long time. In Amrita Secret it is said that the winds have the function of going out and collecting inward in the sense gates. The function of the downward-clearing wind is: "Life and wind and outer earth, as well as semen etc., drawing down this is the downward-clearing wind, the yogi should always know." It means that the function of drawing semen etc. downwards is the function of the downward-clearing wind. In other translations, urine is used instead of life, which is better. Drawing the wind downwards means drawing the winds downwards, especially to the two doors of the genitals, and then drawing them to the navel, as mentioned earlier. The function of the equally dwelling wind is: "Vomiting and eating and licking, and universally drinking and sucking, whatever is constantly equally dwelling, is called equally dwelling." In Chakgyur it is said that food and drink are harmonized by the equally dwelling wind. It is also quoted in Manjushri Root Tantra: "The navel food etc., for the sake of equal guidance, is the equally dwelling." Its meaning is, as stated in Amrita Secret: "It makes food and drink etc. digest at the same time." That is to say, it makes the food that is consumed digest evenly in the navel. The function of the upward-moving wind is: "Going upwards and collecting, eating and tasting etc. eating, knowing and joining together, should be known as the function of the upward-moving wind." Here it says, joining with knowledge, and arriving together with knowledge, is translated in this way.

I exist. The meaning of that is: The previous ones sending food to be sensed by the tongue correspond to the secret nectar. It is explained that the ten winds of Man Nyer descend. Although it is said in the Secret Nectar that this makes the karma wind happy in the gate of the senses, the wind that goes upwards is the wind itself that goes upwards. To show that it is not only that, it is said "collecting", and it also shows entering inside. Knowing how to enjoy food, mixing it with the tongue and chewing etc., this is considered its function. The function of the pervasive wind is: pervading and holding itself, as well as going and returning in the same way, etc. Because it pervades all the joints, it is called pervasive. It is said like that. For the first, it is said in the falling transformation: "Completely nourishing". The activities of each of the branch winds are: becoming assistants for the five sense consciousnesses to grasp objects, which has been said before. After explaining the common way of acting for both ordinary people and yogis, now we will explain the special way of acting for yogis: By doing Vajra recitation on the four root winds, the activities of pacification etc. are accomplished, thereby accomplishing common achievements. Furthermore, by doing Vajra recitation on that wind, the four emptinesses are guided, and by the subtle wind, the illusory body is generated, thereby accomplishing supreme achievements. By doing Vajra recitation on the five branch winds, the five such as eye consciousness can be accomplished, and by the appearance of objects, great bliss can also be ignited. By doing Vajra recitation on the pervasive wind, supreme achievement can be accomplished in the Bardo, thereby experiencing clear light, which is what the previous wise ones said. The seventh is: Thus, relying on the explanation of the nature and function of the winds, how is the key point of being struck on the body understood? On this, it is said in the Vajra Garland: The wind of the chariot of consciousness, mixed with the habitual tendencies of consciousness, enters the object, thereby generating nature, and because it is defiled by habitual tendencies, it wanders in samsara. Apart from this, there is no other samsara, after saying that, therefore, in order to abandon samsara, clarify the position of distinguishing bindus, strive for meditation, do not be other ignorance
