Although the ultimate instruction is for things, people in later times cannot understand it. This is because the power of wisdom gradually diminishes from earlier times to later times. It is not that the ultimate points of the instructions are not clear there. In those scriptures, not only are the meanings hidden and not apparent like the root tantras, but the hidden meanings are also clearly explained. However, due to the influence of the times, people's wisdom becomes unclear, and the scriptures also become unclear. In order to understand it, commentaries are also made to make the words and meanings of those scriptures very clear. And although it is not actually done that way, in order to understand its meaning, scattered texts of instructions are also created. Secondly, if that is the case, then in order to properly discern the essence of the guiding stages made by the holy people of Tibet, it is necessary to properly combine all the tantras of the root and explanatory tantras, and to study for a long time the texts with branches of the five fathers and sons (referring to the five main disciples of Naropa), and also to properly study all the scattered instructions. Je Gö (འགོས་, transliteration) explained in detail the instructions of both of these stages, and created the work known as "Great Empty Thun". Now, the tradition transmitted from Naropa, transmitted through Marpa, seems to be slightly stronger. For this, there is a five-stage guiding text called "The Light of the Guru's Words Showing, Borrowing the Name of Guru Marpa", which is consistent with those who regard the forged tantras of the Two-Non-Two (referring to Chakrasamvara) tantra as the standard and only explain the tantras. However, there seem to be some inconsistencies with the texts of the orthodox instructions of the Marpa tradition, which does not seem to be the work of that guru. There are two ways of transmission from Tsurton (མཚུར་སྟོན་, transliteration) to Gadapa (གད་པ་བ་, transliteration). The guiding texts made by Geshe Dingpa (གསེར་སྡིངས་པ་, transliteration), and the clear explanations of the five-stage collection of other transmissions, are consistent in content. Among them, the root words of the Marpa tradition's instructions, as mentioned earlier, are the clear collection of the five stages. Geshe Dingpa also seems to rely on it. In the aspect of the collected instructions made by Geshe Dingpa, the entering the city (referring to transference of consciousness), transference, tummo practice, etc., which appear from the Mother Tantras, appear because there is a basis for those in the clear collection of the five stages, so it is made according to it. The reason for explaining those in the scriptures will be explained below.

This is how it should be practiced. Other assembled instructions, both subtle and gross, appear in many forms, but the main ones are: the five stages with five meanings, the four meanings, the five stages of complete seat, and the one with wheels, these four. These are the guiding texts that fully reveal the meaning points of the five stages of this tradition. The previous lamas did not write down the complete guiding texts, but transmitted them orally. Among them, for the first four meaning points of the former, because the words of the instructions are on the side, they are not explained except for setting up chapters in the text. The fifth meaning point, which is the key instruction of practicing the two stages on one seat in connection with the path signs, only shows that much. Therefore, that is the key instruction of practicing the five stages on one seat. The four meanings refer to the practitioner, place, companion, and the actual key instruction. The content of the actual key instruction is similar to the former. The so-called five stages of complete seat, which is famous as the heart essence of the father tantra, says: The key instruction has six meanings: generation and completion on one seat, entering and reversing cutting off the root of ignorance, turning bliss into the path, tummo transference of consciousness into a body. Thus, showing the six meanings, it is a complete display of all the meaning points of the Marpa tradition's assembled instructions, but the main thing is the practice of the five stages on one seat. The one with wheels shows the five stages, but is named after practicing the mantra wheel in the heart. This is called the key instruction of completing the five stages on one seat as the one with wheels. Practicing the mantra wheel in the heart is because all four key instructions have it, and from that aspect, it is similar to be called the one with wheels. Practicing the five stages on one seat completely as the one with wheels is called the five stages of complete seat, so all four of them are also the key instruction of the five stages of complete seat. In the four meanings, because the bricklayer rested in the birdhouse, when mentioning the number of instructions given, without mentioning the previous four meanings, it is said that the red guidance of the five stages of complete seat also refers to those. The reason for naming it that way is that the five stages condensed say: Various vehicles beyond the shore, existence, birth, and abiding, etc., due to the difference in the division of time, combine and meditate on one seat. Because it is said to practice the five stages on one seat, it is done based on that.
