Also, weariness is mental disturbance, and laziness is dislike of virtue. The other two are easy to understand. These three kinds of conceptualizations seem to be able to be explained by entering through the three ways of being very attached to objects, not being very attached, and the intermediate state, and summarizing them into three categories. However, according to the commentary "Meaningful Explanation" and the explanations of the predecessors, it is still explained in the original way. Although the commentary "Garland of Jewels" seems to explain which mental factors these conceptualizations belong to, it is not quoted because it seems unreliable. Such three types of conceptualizations are said in the Compendium of Practice to be the nature of the three appearances. The Sanskrit of nature is Svabhava (Tibetan: སྭ་བྷཱ་བ་, Sanskrit Devanagari: स्वभाव, Sanskrit Roman transliteration: svabhāva, Chinese literal meaning: self-nature), which means arising, self-nature, and things. Although it can also be interpreted as the meaning of arising, in the brief instruction of the Compendium of Practice, it says: "Nature is", and it also says "The categories are thirty-three kinds and forty kinds", and also says "These seven characteristics of nature", which are also said to be the characteristics of the three appearances. The meaning of the mudra is the essence of self-nature, and it is inappropriate to explain it in "Meaningful Explanation" as belonging to its category. In the Blessing of the Noble God, it says: "The earth element merges into water, water merges into fire, fire merges into the subtle realm, wind merges into mind, mind merges into mental factors, mental factors merge into ignorance, and it also merges into light." Here it says that before the appearance of mind arises, the wind has already merged. This refers to the wind of conceptual movement, therefore, at that time, conceptualization must also merge. The two, appearance and nature, are extremely incompatible. In the generation stage, the "Collection from All Vajra Wisdom" also says that after the three appearances arise, the conceptualizations of nature will arise. In the "Discrimination of the End of Actions", it also says that after the three emptinesses arise, one hundred and sixty natures will arise. The first category of nature is the cause of the wisdom of appearance, that is, the result. The other two categories of nature are also the same. Therefore, some versions say that the seven natures appear during ignorance, which is an incorrect version. Wind merges into appearance.

If it is thought that since there is no light before the arising of light, it is impossible for light to merge into light, then it is said the same for the three lights of appearance, increase, and attainment, as well as luminosity. Since the former must merge after the latter arises, then these are not cause and effect, and the order of before and after cannot be established, which is unacceptable. Because in the Five Orders it is said, "Emptiness, utterly empty, the third, great emptiness, the fourth, all emptiness, are the distinctions of cause and effect." Therefore, saying that the former merges into the latter is merely a designation for the appearance of something like the energy of the former contracting and becoming unclear, as if the energy has transferred to the latter. Therefore, at the time of merging, first the thirty-three natures cease, then light arises, then the forty natures cease, then increase arises, and so on. And while holding such views, also believing that nature and light are concurrent, and that at the time of arising, first near-attainment arises, and then seven natures arise from that, is unreasonable and contradictory. Regarding the arising of nature from light, it has already been quoted from the Compendium of Conduct. In the Five Stages of Transformation, after explaining the thirty-three and forty natures, it also says, "Arising from the wisdom of light," and "Arising from the union of increasing light." Therefore, describing thoughts as the nature of the three lights is a characteristic, and this is not the non-difference of essence as described in the characteristics of the three lights earlier, but like a crow representing a mansion, it is describing the signified, which has a different essence, as a characteristic. That is, in the Compendium of Conduct it says, "Similarly, the light of consciousness, which is also formless, can be inferred from natures such as desire, non-desire, and the intermediate of desire." Because it says that light is inferred by nature, it is a signifier of light. The method of inference is: since there are three appearances of large, small, and medium in the thoughts of nature, it can be inferred that the light that generates these appearances, that is, the light with the wind as its mount, also has three movements of large, small, and medium. Thus, any of the seven thoughts with small movement is light, that is, the light with the wind as its mount, the hand of small movement.
