Having been written. May it be auspicious that it was written by Sbong ba pa Gelek Pal Zangpo at the great monastery of Ganden Nampar Gyalwai Ling (Ganden Monastery)! May this also be able to accomplish great benefit for the teachings and sentient beings! Homage to the Guru! The small text on view composed by the all-knowing one himself. In the Vajra Words on View, it says: When a beginner is generating an experience of view, in the face of the discriminating awareness that ascertains the meaning of what is being investigated, refute the ascertainment of total exclusion. As the meaning of what was said earlier, like me, based on searching for whether or not appearances exist, when searching for that very nature with the intellect that thinks about self, the essential point of cultivating the grasping that arises with the certainty of not finding even a little is to maintain equal strength. The appearance of me, etc., which was initially made the basis of searching, does not exist at all, and that very certainty does not appear as an extreme of nihilism, which is the appearance of emptiness that will definitely be ascertained. As mentioned earlier, it is necessary to generate an aspect that is only a non-affirming negation that merely cuts off the object of negation. Furthermore, it says in that very text: When meditating on vipassanā that is in accordance with śamatha by relying on śamatha that is in accordance with it, when there is certainty about the meaning of what is being investigated, although drawing in the abiding aspect is the power of accomplishing śamatha, do not hold that as the main thing, but investigate again and again, generate certainty about the meaning of what is being investigated, and at the end of the investigation, abide, and accomplish both of these equally. The meaning of what was said is that when investigating that very suchness with reasoning, when there is certainty about the meaning of what is being investigated, by the power of accomplishing śamatha that is in accordance with it, if you mainly meditate by focusing single-pointedly on the abiding aspect that is drawn in by that, it will turn into śamatha that focuses on suchness, but since there is no way to cultivate vipassanā in that, it is necessary to equally cultivate both investigation meditation and abiding meditation. Also, third, when meditating on actual vipassanā by relying on śamatha, by obtaining pliancy simultaneously with certainty about the meaning of what is being investigated, investigation draws in abiding, and since you can individually investigate from within the state of abiding, when you are in equipoise, analyze individually the aspect that has the union of abiding and the wisdom that individually distinguishes the meaning of suchness. The meaning of this is that from within the state of single-pointedly abiding on the meaning of that very suchness, the peak of drawing in the two pliancies with the power of individually distinguishing that very suchness

The aspect of abiding in one point is quiescence, and the wisdom that discerns them individually is insight, therefore, these two, quiescence and insight, are separate. At that time, both of them are present, so it is also the union of quiescence and insight. Fourth, when meditating after directly realizing that very nature, when the meaning of 'yang' is certain, even though the object and the subject are mixed as one, do not take the appearance of the nature of reality as an object. The meaning of this is that before entering into equanimity with that very nature, the wisdom that individually examines that very nature is definitive cognition and conceptualization. At that time, do not take the appearance of the nature of reality as an object in the appearance when the definitive aspect of that wisdom and entering into equanimity. This is also not an instruction to the noble ones who meditate after directly realizing that very nature, but rather, when the noble ones individually examine that very nature, and after the examination, when the nature of reality is placed in equanimity, gradually, do not grasp the appearance of the nature of reality as an object in the appearance. This is an instruction to the beings to be tamed now. If it is not understood in this way, then there is no need to explain it to the noble ones in this way, so it is said that this was not created by the all-knowing one. The key to seeing it in this way is very profound, and those who give the way to maintain it, give the supreme offering of delighting in rational analysis. Although it is a very rare and supreme oral instruction, for those whose intelligence is not sharp, the moonlight of good speech also only appears as the darkness of wrong conceptions. Fifth, the way to meditate on that very nature, which is a special object of other vehicles. According to this system, when entering into equanimity with that very nature, do not dwell on the grasping of a definite view while observing and meditating. The meaning of this is that it is the practice of the view that is unique to the completion stage of the unsurpassed mantra. With this, the key to the object of meditating on insight is that although there is no need to observe and meditate as before, people and phenomena must be strongly determined by the grasping of certainty that they are not established as the appearances described earlier. Therefore, the meaning is not to dwell on that certainty. Those are the key points of the way to meditate on the selflessness of the sky-like self from the first practitioner to the noble ones, and by explaining them in a condensed way, the basis of my
