Some explain it by collecting three letters, i.e., "letter" and so on. Whatever vowel and consonant letters were previously mentioned, and which letters are quiescent, etc., are manifestly directed towards, i.e., are primarily, ya, ra, la, va, all of which should be understood as the essence of female, male, and neuter. Not only should these be understood, but also the realm of language, i.e., the root, and what is included by "etc.," and verbs, agents, etc., up to eighty-four thousand. One should thoroughly examine the forms of various languages, etc. Alternatively, through the three realms, etc., one should examine the nature of the three bodies, three roots, etc. Indicating the function of these three is "below" and so on. Oṃ (ༀ, Sanskrit: ॐ, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: oṃ) is entering inward, so it goes downward. Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ, Sanskrit: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: hūṃ) is rising outward, so it goes upward. Binding is abiding equally, i.e., the letter A. Then, for the wind that exists by nature, why is there a need for distinctions such as below and above? Although entering, etc., are accomplished by nature, because children do not understand, they know that the limbs are not damaged, and then through wisdom, they determine that wind and mantra are inseparably combined, then for the yogi, nature will become clear. Therefore, Lakṣmī said, it is not obtaining what has not been obtained, but through understanding what is not understood, that is the completion stage. The spoken mantra, i.e., the mantra collected as before, is the thing, i.e., it arises from the essence of luminosity that is without self-nature. This shows that the mantra collected from three letters is different from other mantra collections. Like this, if it is like other mantra collections, then those mantras collected from vowels and consonants, or mantras recited by mind. But here, the sound of the three—rising, entering, and abiding—of the wind arising from the indestructible bindu of luminosity, appears as the sound of three letters. Then, it would be sufficient to explain just that much, why is it necessary to collect the mantra of three letters? It is collected by showing how all the mantras that should be recited are gathered into three letters. Therefore, through recitation, all the mantras that have been spoken, show that all the accomplishments that should be accomplished will be realized, so it is necessary to collect the mantra. In some translations it says: Because all the mantras of the essence of female, male, and neuter, through how to obtain the oral instructions, completely enter into the three letters.

Thus, the Kāli (Tibetan) and others are male, the four ṛ ṝ ḷ ḹ (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, ṛ ṝ ḷ ḹ, four letters) are neuter, and the remaining vowels after discarding them are female. The secret instruction for collecting all the mantras, such as snakes, that have become such a nature, into three letters is: the deity by which the mantras become mantras, although infinite, if collected, they are collected into the three vajras, so the mantras of these are also collected into the three essences of the three vajras. As it says in the Root Tantra: "The secret essence of the body, speech, and mind of all Tathagatas, which activates all mantras." Also, the mantras are the invocation of the deities, that is, calling, the request to stay, that is, blessing after calling, and the request to depart, that is, the three mantras that urge their respective actions are collected. The deities who grant accomplishments are also collected into five families, and here also, if the five winds and lights are collected under control, they will grant the supreme. The method for that is also the recitation of the mantras of rising, entering, and abiding. All mantras are collected into three letters, and those three are said to be the lords of all mantras. Second, after the collection of mantras has been explained earlier, the meaning of the mantras is shown by saying, "From that," etc. The meaning of the mantra is that which is close to the form of the deity because those three letters are completely transformed from that. The way of complete transformation is that Lakshmi explains that from the complete transformation of the letter Oṃ (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, Om, 唵), Vairochana and others arise. That is the meaning of the mantra of the generation stage, but here the meaning of the mantra of the completion stage is the main thing, so that alone is not enough. Therefore, the mantra of the three letters is the three winds of rising, entering, and abiding, and its complete transformation is the wind that is separated from rising and entering and has become inseparable from the three wisdoms. To visualize the form of the deity from that is to arise as an illusory body from those two, wind and mind, and from the order of self-blessing: "The wind that is truly associated with, those three consciousnesses themselves, again, arise in the body of the yogi, that is explained as the illusory body." As it is said. Thus, the letters of the mantra, etc., have an inconceivable door for generating the body of the deity, and all the letters are collected into three letters, and those three are also the three winds, and after their complete transformation, the deity
