Now, what is being said is a question about action, that is, referring to those actions that make the mind without function, which also do not exist, because the natures do not act only in the case of the three appearances. The questioner's thought is that if the self-nature's conceptualizations do not have an author of expansion and contraction, then from where do these conceptualizations come, and how can there be no cause for experience? In response to the first two questions, because it is said that there is no root, it should be understood as the meaning of the previous question, otherwise, not only in the three appearances, but also in the self-nature's conceptualizations, such doubts will arise, because there is no color and shape, and it transcends the objects of tangible faculties, and so on. Therefore, saying "even if it is so," means that even if the Buddha says so, because the three minds all have dualistic appearances, there is the element of wind, and under this power, the spark of expansion and contraction of conceptualizations is not contradictory. Then, will Near Attainment and Increase generate seven and forty conceptualizations without generating the appearances below each of them? Or will they generate after generating the wisdom below? If it is the former, then the order of the three wisdoms is uncertain, so luminosity may also generate the other two appearances first, and after generating Near Attainment first, appearances and so on may also generate. If it is the latter, then it is unreasonable to place the seven, forty, and thirty-three conceptualizations separately for the three appearances, because there are none of these conceptualizations in the direct result of the latter two appearances, and all these conceptualizations will arise in the indirect result. Furthermore, these three sets of conceptualizations are said to be the nature of the three appearances, so it is also contradictory as a result. It is also unreasonable to think that after each wisdom arises, each set of conceptualizations will disappear. Naming the three wisdoms as the three self-natures, the three minds, and the three consciousnesses, etc., is because it is considered that there are reasons for which these words can be used, but it is not said that all these are shown as the three wisdoms. Therefore, the three wisdoms and the three appearances, Increase, and Attainment, just as shown before, also have corresponding characteristics in the base period, so in their respective periods, there are no eighty self-nature conceptualizations, and the order is also explained.

Since they arise in succession, seven kinds of conceptualizations, etc., do not arise in between. Even so, it is not contradictory to divide conceptualizations into three categories and say that the three appearances are the respective results. Dividing conceptualizations into three categories is not because the objects and modes of grasping are different, but because the power of the winds causes the movement of conceptualizations towards objects to be in three degrees: large, medium, and small. This also arises due to the power of the three appearances. Thus, in the beginning of clear light, the wind does not move. At its end, when the wind moves slightly, near-attainment arises. When the wind moves greatly, increase arises. When the wind moves extremely, appearance arises. At its end, when the nature-conceptualization arises, if any of the three (conceptualizations) arise, it is the trace of appearance; if any of the four (conceptualizations) arise, it is the trace of increase; if any of the seven (conceptualizations) arise, it is the trace of near-attainment. The nature-conceptualizations are said to be the results of the appearances. In the Compendium of Practice, the characteristics of the three appearances are described as nature. Its meaning is to refer to the symbols of the three appearances. The way of symbolizing is said to be to infer the three appearances through the mode of nature. The way of inferring is to infer that in the cause, the appearance, there are also three kinds of wind movement: small, medium, and large, by the sign that there are small, medium, and large movements towards the object in the nature-conceptualization. The three appearances or emptinesses do not become manifest except in the cases of sleep, fainting, sexual intercourse, the time of death, and when a meditator with powerful samadhi causes proliferation to subside. Even in the first four cases, it is said that they are experienced only for a moment, so most people cannot be certain. Therefore, it is said that they should be understood by inference, so it is unreasonable to consider all present consciousnesses as the three: appearance, increase, and attainment. Nature-conceptualizations have all three: virtuous, non-virtuous, and neutral, and there are many cases where there is no sound-conceptualization. Until the nature-conceptualization is moved by the wind and does not subside inward, all thoughts in which the wind moves violently towards the object are nature-conceptualizations. Therefore, the present sense-consciousnesses should also be considered as nature-conceptualizations. In short, it is certain that the wind either directly moves the nature-conceptualization or does not move it. Not moving
