Its essence is the methods for entering into co-emergent luminosity. And the most essential of these is the recitation of the outgoing and incoming breath. What is such a recitation? It is the self-nature that naturally abides in all sentient beings. As the Vajra Garland says: "Whatever sentient beings of the three realms, rely on life and effort, constantly recite the king of secret mantras, unknowingly abandon meditation and reading." It is like that. The so-called "mustard seed size" is what is indicated by the term "mustard seed" in the root tantra, and it is taken as an object to be explained. That mustard seed size itself is the substance of the five wisdoms, that is, its essence. It is said. If the meaning of mustard seed has been declared to be the essence of the five wisdoms, how should it be understood in relation to the breath? The contemplation of the five-colored jewel is said to be the supreme essence, so it should be known that it is the completion stage. The so-called five-colored sequence should be understood as the essence of the five wisdoms. Moreover, it naturally abides in all beings, and it is said that this abiding place should be visualized at the tip of the nose, so it should be known that the arising and dissolving of the five rays of breath is the meaning of mustard seed. The five rays of breath are explained as the five wisdoms, which should be understood as the five families. The deity residing in the center of those five families should be understood as the immovable one in the heart, so its essence is the life breath. What is clear is that the life breath of reason controls everything. What is unclear is the subtle life breath, the indestructible bindu. Therefore, the tantra says that the recitation of the outgoing and incoming breath is the most excellent of all methods for generating the wisdom of co-emergent luminosity, and that the chief of the breaths, the life breath, is the indestructible bindu. Therefore, one must be certain that the most essential of the essential instructions on the channels, breaths, and bindus that strike the vital points of the body is the vajra recitation, and one should know that its ultimate key point is also in the heart. Secondly, in the eighteenth chapter of the later part of the Compendium Tantra, it is also clearly stated that the meaning of contemplating the five-colored jewel the size of a mustard seed, as stated in the root tantra, is the vajra recitation of the outgoing and incoming breath, and thus a connection is made. The word "also" indicates that not only did the former establish the meaning of the root tantra, but also the five-colored jewel.

"Thus" is what is said in the root tantra, explained and elucidated here. Its meaning is life and diligence, which is explained in this later tantra. This shows the five-colored rays rising upwards in the upper nostrils, which are the nature of the five Tathagatas. That is the breath of the nature of the five wisdoms, such as the mirror-like wisdom, fire in the right nostril, wind in the left nostril, earth and water from both nostrils, and the pervasive air of space, thus being the essence of the five elements. That is taken out from one's own vajra orifice, and observed at the tip of the vidya's lotus, in the form of a globule, that is, a bindu, which is to be meditated upon. In the lotus of one's own heart, visualize the short A, and in that indestructible bindu, let the life, that is, the breath, remain without flowing outwards. One's own mantra is the nature of the three mantras of entering, abiding, and exiting, and is recited. This tantra divides the tip of the nose in the root tantra into three: the tip of the nose of the face, the tip of the nose of the secret, and the tip of the nose of the heart. In the upper gate, perform vajra recitation; in the lower gate, perform bindu yoga; and in the heart, gather the breath in the indestructible bindu, thus explaining the three aspects of life and diligence, that is, the three tips of the nose transforming into three bindus the size of mustard seeds. In the Vajra Garland Tantra, it is said: "The greedy should meditate on the material bindu at the secret tip of the nose; the wrathful should meditate on the mantra bindu in the heart; and the ignorant should meditate on the lower bindu at the upper gate." Thus, the path of three different types of individuals is explained. The intention of Manjushri's Smiling Face is: first, meditate on the mantra bindu in the heart, which is the meaning of the two words "one's own mantra"; then, meditate on the secret bindu at the jewel tip of the nose; and then, meditate on the emanation bindu at the upper gate, which is to perform vajra recitation on the breath, thus explaining that one person meditates on all three in sequence. The Lamp Illuminating and its follower Naropa also explain as previously stated. In the Compendium of Conduct, the meaning of reciting the breath of the four wheels entering, abiding, and exiting in conjunction with the three syllables, this is the meaning of the two lines of "one's own mantra", except for that, it is explained as the meaning of six lines. Therefore, the meaning of the verse of the five wisdoms is to perform vajra recitation at the upper gate.
