If done so, not only to the three appearances, but also to the conceptual thoughts of self-nature, the same doubt will arise. Because there is no color and shape, and it is beyond the scope of tangible senses, etc., these also exist. Therefore, "Although it is so" means that if the Buddha said so, even if it is so, because the three minds are accompanied by the appearance of dualistic appearance, there is the realm of wind. Therefore, the conceptual thoughts generated by the power of wind, which carry out the activity of contraction and expansion, are not contradictory. Then, do Near Attainment and Increase generate seven and forty conceptual thoughts without generating the lower appearances of their own? Or do they generate after generating lower wisdom? If according to the first statement, then the order of the three wisdoms is uncertain, so after the Clear Light, the other two appearances will also arise first, and after Near Attainment is generated first, appearances, etc., will also arise. If according to the second statement, then for the three appearances, it is unreasonable to separately establish seven conceptual thoughts, forty conceptual thoughts, and thirty-three conceptual thoughts as results. Because there are none of these conceptual thoughts in the direct result of the latter two appearances, and as an indirect result, all of these will appear. Furthermore, these three groups of conceptual thoughts are said to be the self-nature of the three appearances, so it is also contradictory as a result. If it is thought that after each wisdom arises, each group of conceptual thoughts also ceases accordingly, this is also unreasonable. The three wisdoms are given names such as three self-natures, three minds, and three consciousnesses, because it is considered that there are reasons for which these words can be used, but this is not to say that all of these are shown as three wisdoms. Therefore, the three wisdoms and the three appearances, Increase, and Near Attainment, as shown earlier, will also appear at the base time on the basis of having characteristics. In their respective times, there are no eighty self-nature conceptual thoughts, and the order also arises according to the order that has been said, so seven conceptual thoughts, etc., will not arise in between. Even so, it is not contradictory to divide the conceptual thoughts into three groups and say that they are the respective results of the three appearances. Dividing the conceptual thoughts into three groups is not because the objects and the ways of holding are different, but because the power of wind causes the activity of the conceptual mind to shake on the object to have three degrees: large, medium, and small. And this is due to the power of the three appearances. Like this, in the beginning of Clear Light, the wind is not moving. After that is the wind.

Slight movement (by wind) causes Near Attainment to arise; that, when greatly moved by wind, causes Increase to arise; that, when extremely moved, causes Appearance to arise. After that, when the natural thought arises, if any of the three teeth (thirty) appear, it is the handprint of Appearance; if any of the four tens (forty) appear, it is the handprint of Increase; if any of the seven (seventy) appear, it is the handprint of Near Attainment. Natural thoughts are said to be the result of Appearances. In the Compendium of Conduct, the characteristics of the three Appearances are described as natural. Its meaning is to symbolize the three Appearances. The way of symbolizing is said to be to infer the three Appearances through the door of nature. The way of inferring is to infer that in the cause, Appearance, there are also small, medium, and large movements of wind, by the sign that in the natural thought there are small, medium, and large movements of the object. The three Appearances or Emptinesses do not become manifest except in the cases of sleep, fainting, sexual intercourse, the time of death, and when a meditator with powerful samadhi has dissolved proliferations. Even in the first four cases, it is said that they are experienced only for a moment, so most people cannot be certain. Therefore, since it is said that they are to be inferred, it is unreasonable to consider all present consciousnesses as the three: Appearance, Increase, and Attainment. Natural thoughts can be virtuous, non-virtuous, or neutral, and many are without sound-thoughts. All minds in which the wind greatly moves the object, until the natural thought, moved by the wind, dissolves back, are natural thoughts. Therefore, the present sense consciousnesses should also be regarded as natural thoughts. In short, it is certain that the wind either actually moves the natural thought or does not. Until it is moved, it is the state of the four Emptinesses; after it is moved, it is the state of nature. Thus, it is unreasonable to believe that natural thoughts arise as one taste with the three minds, or that they arise as the retinue of the three minds. To the second question, "What causes the mind not to arise?" the answer is, "Ignorance." Ignorance is said to be the nature of forgetting, so it is that which causes the mind not to arise. That also arises due to the power of nature dissolving into Appearance. Thus,
