Therefore, all mantras are the essence of female, male, and hermaphrodite. Through the transmission of oral instructions, they are completely integrated into the three letters. Therefore, these three letters are the masters of all mantras. It is said that all mantras such as those for snakes are integrated into the three letters through the essence of female, male, and hermaphrodite. This is the meaning of the collection of mantras. The so-called "how to hear the oral instructions" refers to the oral instructions on the rules of how mantras are integrated into these three, which are heard and understood as they are, meaning they are collected here. Furthermore, in the Compendium of Practices, it says: "Āli and Kāli generate the three letters in the manner of female, male, and hermaphrodite." Apart from this statement, in the treatises of none of the five masters—Āryadeva, Āryadeva's deity, Nāgārjuna, Bodhibhadra, Śākyamitra, and Candrakīrti—is there a clear explanation of how the three letters are generated through the mantras of vowels and consonants in the manner of female, etc. On this, the Kashmiri scholar Lakṣmī considers that creating symbols of female, etc., through sounds, etc., is a mistaken symbol and deceptive, so it is not adopted here. Here, what is universally present is regarded as skillful means, and what is universally present is regarded as wisdom. Apart from this, there are no symbols of male and female. Therefore, the nature of phenomena is universally present, so it is wisdom; the characteristics of phenomena are universally present, so it is skillful means. But skillful means is not universally present in wisdom, because skillful means needs to be sought through wisdom. In this way, Āli is universally present in Kāli, so it is the essence of wisdom, therefore it is called female; Kāli is what is universally present, so it is the essence of skillful means, therefore it is called male. And the four, ya, ra, la, and va, are the nature of a container, therefore they are neither female nor male, so they are called hermaphrodite. Among them, if all existing vowels are collected from a to the end of the vowel marks, then a is female. If they are collected in reverse order from ka to ha, then hūṃ is male. The last letter of ya, ra, la, and va is connected with a, and these also arise from the nasal sound, so the following vowel oṃ (藏文:ༀ་,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡) is hermaphrodite. Thus, the method of generating the three letters through the mantras of vowels and consonants in the manner of male, female, and hermaphrodite is explained. These three letters

is the secret essence of the body-Vairochana, speech-Amitabha, and mind-Akshobhya of all the Tathagatas of the three times. By this mantra, it is the essence of all the deities, which constantly inspires the mind, awakens it, and makes it remember. The ultimate secret is that it is unobscured. By whom was it spoken? By Vajradhara himself, in the way of words, that is, spoken definitively from the mouth. As for "from the Vajra of his own body, speech, and mind," Lakshmi explains that it is from the body and mind, through the secret speech. However, there is no contradiction in saying that it was spoken from the mouth and that it arose from the body, speech, and mind Vajra. As it is said in the Compendium of Conduct: "Therefore, after the body has become Vajra, it joins with the jaw and lips and becomes a collection of tongues, and thus enters the speech Vajra. The mind Vajra is what inspires it." As it is said. With this Vajra word, the yogi of the two stages inspires the minds of the Buddhas with the three essences of body, speech, and mind. Here, the latter is explained. The reality of the mantra spoken in the thirteenth chapter, that is, the so-called "meaning," has four lines. Among them, the meaning is the three winds. Realization is realizing it as three letters. Recitation is counting these two without separation, which is explained as Vajra recitation. Moreover, contemplating without separating the five winds explained as the nature of the three times and the five Buddhas, and realizing that all wind mantras are without self-nature, is a good recitation. The meaning of "by the Buddha" is "becoming a Buddha." After Lakshmi realized the meaning of the three winds, she regarded the mantra, wind, and deity as non-dual. With this nature, the contemplation of the Buddhas of the three times, that is, the recitation of complete knowledge, is explained as Vajra recitation. Since it is dependent arising, therefore, by reciting non-self, that is, the nature of the non-self of person and phenomena, the activities of pacification, etc., are accomplished, and therefore it is explained as good. It is also said in the seventh chapter of the Root Tantra: "Beggar" has four kinds. "Bhiksha" is a beggar, of which "bi" is different, and "Akshara" is a letter. Reciting letters and winds separately is eating beggars.
