Because the purity of the senses and objects exists separately. Therefore, the statement that there are no more than thirty-two (Buddhas), and that the reason for the existence of thirty-two is established by scripture, and that the pervasiveness is established by direct perception, is: It contradicts the statement in the treatises on reasoning that it is impossible to determine that the complete collection of causes will definitely produce a result, and that it is only possible to determine that it may produce a result. And in any case, whether direct or indirect, it is wrong to infer the number of results from the number of causes, so pervasiveness cannot be established. It is possible to abandon the mandala immediately after meditating on the deity mandala and not meditate on the mandala, because there is no harmful valid cognition, so the reason for unobstructed ability cannot be established either. If only the unobstructed ability of the cause is established, then it is uncertain. If the cause of the thirty-two Buddhas that are produced is established, then both the proof and what is to be proven become difficult to determine. The question and answer regarding the number of deities in the mandala is the way to establish the deity mandala and the palace deities in both stages. The fourth part is divided into two parts: question and answer. The first part is: the student asks. When a beginner meditates on a deity, is it not contradictory to visualize an ordinary body as Buddhas such as Vairocana and Bodhisattvas such as Ksitigarbha? What are Buddhas and Bodhisattvas like? They are those who have abandoned all afflictions to be abandoned and have attained the qualities of the Buddha, such as the power and fearlessness to be attained. The meaning is that the person who meditates on the deity is an ordinary person who has not abandoned the afflictions to be abandoned and has not attained what is to be attained, so it is contradictory for him to meditate as Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, just like meditating on coal as a conch shell. Establishing the deity on the body, the body here refers to the person who meditates on the deity, and establishing the deity refers to visualizing as the deity. This is a debate raised considering these, and it is not a debate about visualizing as a self-generated deity, nor is it just a debate about establishing the deity on the body. The meaning of contradiction is not to argue that defiled nature is not a deity, and that it is impossible for the two to have a common basis, but rather it is a debate raised because it is seen that the meditator is not those deities, but visualizes as those deities. Therefore, the debate argues that if one is an ordinary person, one should not visualize as a deity. The second part is: In response to this question, the teacher's answer is: Even if one is not a Buddha, it is reasonable to visualize oneself as a Buddha.

It is not. By meditating in this way, those aggregates and so on will become the cause of Buddhahood, because there is such a need. If it is said that the body of an ordinary person, which has not previously become the cause of enlightenment, is later visualized as a deity, then it is contradictory to transform it into the cause of enlightenment, because it is the same in the state of an ordinary person. If you think so, then it is not contradictory for one thing with a state to have two different states, and an example can be given to prove it: For example, a piece of copper is made into a washing vessel by a blacksmith, and as long as it is in that state, it will not be used for spitting or doing inferior things. If it is made into a plate, in this state, worldly people will not use it for eating before and after meals. Similarly, if the copper is made into a Buddha statue, in this state, it becomes an object of prostration and offering, and the previous two things will not be done. Similarly, the ordinary body of the practitioner is the cause of samsara in the previous state, which is true. In the later stage, it will become the cause of accomplishing omniscience, and there is no fault of contradiction. What is the previous state like? It is the time when one does not have the means of visualizing the deity and so on, and the body is moistened by desire and so on, that is, the time when one is addicted to one's own happiness. The later stage is: the time when one fully knows that the nature of the aggregates is emptiness, and is completely purified by visualizing the deity. Through the path of other lineages, one cannot liberate others, but one can liberate one's own continuum. Therefore, it is not too much to gather all the vessels and essences into the clear light and visualize them as deities and palaces. Here, someone asked whether it is contradictory for an ordinary person to visualize himself as a deity, and the answer is that it is not contradictory. Therefore, when visualizing the deity, although the meditator is an ordinary person, it is necessary to transform the appearance of an ordinary person that appears in the samadhi of the deity visualization, as stated in the "Method of Self-Achievement." It is also said that the aggregates of an ordinary person who is held by means will become the cause of enlightenment. Extremely, etc., this is from the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way": Like the supreme alchemy, take this impure body and transform it into the body of the Victorious One, because it is transformed into a priceless treasure, therefore, one should firmly hold the Bodhicitta. This is only a difference in translation.
