Regarding the Vajra Mudra, it is mentioned in other tantras as well, and if considered from its symbolic meaning, it is the merging of the three—object, awareness, and consciousness—into one taste of luminosity. In this way, each finger of the left and right hands, as well as both hands together, symbolize the three to be entered into luminosity. The fingers being aligned and crossed over each other symbolize the entering of these three into luminosity, which is the true meaning of the Vajra Mudra. In this kind of mudra, although the object and the subject are merged into one, it is still regarded as three and the Three Refuges, which means they are categorized as such. This is the Vajra Mudra from the perspective of luminosity. Now, the Vajra Mudra of union is to be explained. Furthermore, the Vajra Mudra is the supreme state of Vajrasattva's six families. How so? Because the wisdom of ultimate luminosity and the skillful means of conventional illusory body are combined inseparably, hence it is the union of the two truths. As it is said in the Lamp Illuminating Darkness: "The sixth branch is the branch of samadhi, and when explaining union, it is like the application of skillful means and wisdom, explaining the union of the two truths." Like this, merely forming the mudra of the union of the two truths can truly invoke or attain all the Buddhas, which is the essence of all the Tathagatas, Vajradhara. As it is said in the Prophecy of Intentions: "Merely by forming the mudra, one will attain all the Buddhas." In this way, the fingers of the right hand are the conventional truth of skillful means, and the fingers of the left hand are the ultimate truth of wisdom. The two being aligned and crossed over each other is the union of the two truths, therefore the previous true meaning of the Vajra Mudra is the stage of the path, while this is the stage of the result, so this mudra is ultimate. In the previous stage, each finger of the left and right hands, as well as both hands together, are the objects to be abandoned that are to be purified by the antidote, while here it is necessary to use them for the meaning to be attained, therefore the difference is very great. To show that the groups of three reside in that mudra, from the Three Refuges to pleasing the Buddhas, it is added to the end of each item. The Three Refuges are: As it is said in the tantra Vajra Garland: "The Buddha is the complete enjoyment body, the sacred Dharma is the Dharma body,
