Those who think that dreams are desires, and those with supernatural powers think that the intermediate state is the adornment before taking a body, and some people think that the mind in the intermediate state is the basis for practicing union, so the statement that it is a body is refuted. Although there is no difference between illusion and union as the basis for practice, because the former is needed as the proximate cause of the latter, the Black Lineage well explains that the basis for practicing both is placed in the intermediate state, and the prajnaparamita luminosity at the time of death is used as the basis for practice. The difference between practicing the basis for practice and abandoning what should be abandoned is that clinging to places, bodies, and enjoyments in an ordinary way is not abandonment, but contemplating them as palaces and deities is merely transforming appearances, while cutting off the seeds of clinging to one's own mindstream is abandonment, so it is explained. Lama Rongba, like summarizing and explaining the basis for practicing the generation stage—the five aggregates, the eighteen realms, the twelve sense bases, the six objects, and the five wisdoms—divides it into hundreds, and the 21,600 winds in the empty space of the body emit the sound of a hundred three-letter syllables and circulate, and the three minds with their own nature, and experiencing the bliss of self-awareness when the two roots unite, and in the dream state, only wind and mind produce the mind-made body with manifestation and clinging, and it appears to be enjoying desires in the ten directions at will, and the luminosity of death, and the intermediate state achieved from it, these are all the basis for practicing the image of union, which is free from the body, and explaining both the death and intermediate state stages as the basis for practice is because the emptiness of death is not realized as it is, or the difference between realizing or not realizing, and the characteristics of the intermediate state at the time of entering the womb and the intermediate state, or it is explained as the difference between death and the intermediate state before this body and the final destruction of this body. Regarding this, the noble father and son did not explicitly use the terms basis for practice and practitioner, but only said in general: "The samadhi like illusion is purified by the true limit." As stated in the Five Stages, although there is a statement that the antidote is also said to be what should be abandoned, here, in the Compendium, it says: "Due to the faults of habitual tendencies of conceptual thought, the beings of the three realms are extremely ignorant, the wise should observe well, and purify with the yoga tantra." Thus it is said, it should be used to remove defilements. Regarding this, there are the Tent Chapter, etc.

From... it is said that, arising from the mind vajra, sentient beings of various kinds, the mind is defiled by the impurities of one's own conceptual thoughts, therefore one should strive diligently to purify the mind vajra, a pure mind is happiness, it can destroy all afflictive poisons. As it is said, like the mind defiled by impurities, purification is not the meaning of purifying the continuity of the same kind of mind, but rather generating the same kind of mind later, free from impurities, is the meaning of purification. Like saying to purify self-grasping, it is the meaning of purifying by cutting off the continuity of the same kind, similarly, for the obscuring impurities of the manifestation of the mind's nature, there is also saying to purify the dharma nature by eliminating them, therefore, there are three ways of purification, which are all spoken of in both the mantra and the nominalist vehicles. Here, a special object of purification is to be shown, and although there is a distinction between the two divisions of sentient and inanimate realms, if the main meaning is determined, then it is the three of the basis: birth, death, and bardo. The way to purify them is not to generate the same kind of these three later, free from impurities, because they do not exhaust impurities. Nor is it to eliminate the obscuring impurities of the manifestation of these three, because for sentient beings, they have already manifested, so there is no need to strive for this. It is also not like preventing self-grasping with the wisdom of realizing selflessness, because that does not require pure and conforming paths, but this requires those. Therefore, what is said here is that, like how the experience of the stages of the dissolution of the elements arises at the time of death of an ordinary person, generating the completion stage, like how the three dharmas of the basis are, cultivating the path in that way, thereby purifying the three of birth, death, and bardo of an ordinary person, I think this is the key meaning of purification. In that way, in order to purify the three of birth, death, and bardo of the practitioner himself, two stages of the path are spoken of, that is, for example, like purifying afflictive self-grasping, cultivating the four stages of the learning path is not contradictory, although the three dharmas of the object of purification are one, what is contradictory about the two stages of the path to purify it arising gradually? If each stage can purify completely, then one object of purification does not need two purifiers, because that is not admitted, so it is a point of contention.
