Those who escape, and those who travel in the vast upper, lower, and surrounding environments, firmly believe that they are free from obstacles. Insert the pegs into the cavities of the ten earth balls. Every other day, offer torma and offerings to the wrathful deities of the pegs. When the pegs are firm, invite the ten wrathful deities to descend. If there are no actual pegs, it is also permissible to use the pegs of meditation according to the sadhana. It is said in the Vajra Garland that the four mantras, such as Sumba Nī, with Oṃ (Tibetan: ༀ, Devanagari: ओ, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ, Literal meaning: Om) at the beginning and Hūṃ Hūṃ Phaṭ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ, Devanagari: हुं हुं फट्, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ hūṃ phaṭ, Literal meaning: Hum Hum Phat) at the end, should be recited in the four directions, starting with the east, to issue commands. When striking the peg, it is said to strike while reciting Oṃ Vajra Mudgara Vajra Kīlaya Akoṭaya Hūṃ Hūṃ Phaṭ (Tibetan: ༀ་བཛྲ་མུད་ག་ར་བཛྲ་ཀཱི་ལ་ཡ། །ཨ་ཀོཊ་ཡ་ཧཱུྃ་ཧཱུྃ་ཕཊ, Devanagari: ओँ वज्र मुदगर वज्र कीलय अकोटय हुं हुं फट्, Romanized Sanskrit: oṃ vajra mudgara vajra kīlaya akoṭaya hūṃ hūṃ phaṭ, Literal meaning: Om Vajra Mudgara Vajra Kilaya Akotaya Hum Hum Phat). Secondly, for the purpose of protecting against the entry of new obstacles, create an iron vajra fence with Ṭakki Hūṃ Ja (Tibetan: ཊཀྐི་ཧཱུྃ་ཛ, Devanagari: टक्कि हुं ज, Romanized Sanskrit: ṭakki huṃ ja, Literal meaning: Takki Hum Ja), and above that fence, create a vajra tent from the syllable Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum), and below the tent, above the fence, create a vajra banner, and the foundation below, create a ground of various vajras from the syllable Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hum), and in all the outer directions, create a net of arrows, and bless the upper and lower parts with the mantras of the crest jewel and adornment of harm. Then, thinking that obstacles are merely imputed by one's own mind and that there is nothing else, and that the mind has no inherent nature, one should firmly resolve to achieve supreme enlightenment with the intention of diligently accomplishing happiness for others. The ritual for pacifying obstacles is the third. Sitting in the center of the mandala and contemplating the sadhana, etc., these can also be done in the meditation ritual, as stated in the Garland. Therefore, these should also be done in the painted ritual. Examine, arouse, grant, and strongly request, and purify with substances, mantras, and the view of emptiness. Torma, fire offering, sadhana meditation. Joy, subdued voice, supplication, lifting up. Prostration, clear placement, eye-opening, viewing. Pride, feet, blessing, walking. After circumambulating, issue commands and make gestures. Union, self-generation, accomplish the peg. Protect with the placement of the peg, fence, etc. The land ritual is briefly summarized. Secondly, there are four parts to the preparation ritual: drawing the lines of action, performing the three remainders, praying to the deities, and the disciple abiding especially. The first has four parts: the general arrangement of the lines, the preparation of the line cord.
