Those people, prostrating at the feet of the Bhagavan, touching their heads to his feet, and in comparison to before, asked again: Calling him "Emaho Teacher" with a tone of amazement, please explain the differences between the three consciousnesses, that is, their respective ways of recognition, the order of their appearance in forward and reverse sequence, and related supplementary explanations. Mentioning both Bhagavan and Sugata is to emphasize the meaning of the request. What is difficult to understand is through the gate of hearing and thinking, and what is extremely profound, that is, what is difficult to understand, is through the gate of meditation. When quoting briefly, phrases such as "asking again" and "extremely difficult to understand" will appear. The third part is divided into two points: the order of arising in forward and reverse sequence from the clear light, and a clear explanation of that order. The first point is further divided into two points: the general meaning and the branch meaning. The first point is further divided into three points: Which of the two, the intermediate state and the state of birth, does this forward and reverse sequence refer to? Relying on the determination of the reversal of samsara, thereby grasping the key to the path. And it explains the view that all such as aggregates and sense bases are merely a mixture of wind and mind. The first point is: Here, the statement that mind, intellect, and consciousness arise from the clear light, and that fire and so on arise sequentially from wind, does this refer to the way the intermediate state is formed from the clear light of death at the end of this life? Or does it refer to the way the state of birth is formed from the clear light of death in the intermediate state? From the clear light, mind, intellect, and consciousness arise sequentially, up to this point, it is saying that the order of forming the intermediate state and the state of birth from the death and birth of the basic period. Although it can be applied in the stage of the completion stage as mentioned before, intermediate stages such as the generation stage must be applied to the order of forming the state of birth from the death clear light of the basic intermediate state. It is inappropriate for those who quote scriptures to make brief explanations to explain all of this as the process of formation from death to the intermediate state, because this contradicts the Vajra Garland. It says: It exists in the center of the secret gate of explanation, the name is Unborn Jewel. It is also separated from consciousness, the body of wisdom is selfless. There, birth is the most important life, called the most supreme of beings. The nature of consciousness

is the support. Initially, the four elements act as the nature of generation. At that time, they dissolve into their own realm. From consciousness arises the wind, and from that, fire is born. From fire, water arises, and from that, earth is also born. From these, the aggregates arise. Thus, in that secret place, one who possesses the mount of life-force wind. From the clear light in which consciousness dissolves, consciousness, wind, fire, etc., are born in sequence, and these two teachings in the tantra are of the same meaning. Speech 7. The meaning of these is explained in detail. Where does the intermediate state arise? Thus thinking. In that place, birth is taken, called the uncreated great channel, from the beginning to the end of the channel, up to the place of explanation, in the center of the secret place, in the mother's womb, in that secret place, birth is taken. The channel is an inanimate object, so it is separate from consciousness. The place of the womb where birth is taken, is accomplished by that very nature. What is the chief of beings, the drops of semen together with the wind, and when the union with the consort is found, in the red lotus with eight petals facing downwards below the navel. Holding all the remnants of the blood flow, after that the lotus closes. There, both blood and semen become like water and milk mixed together, becoming one mass, creating its own nature. Then, in the order of following, gradually becoming soft and so on, gradually arising. As it is said, the wheel of the secret place located below the navel. It is also said in the Joyful Entry into the Womb Sutra that it is located between the bottom of the stomach and the top of the rectum, which is consistent with this. In some texts it says, the uncreated part. In some texts it says, the uncreated channel. Who is born? The body of wisdom, as explained in the Vajra Garland commentary, is the intermediate state. The selfless one is the one who does not have the nature of self in the one who takes it. The beings of the first kalpa, abandoning the gross body, are named as the body of wisdom and the body of the nature of mind. Thus it is established, so the body of the intermediate state is also like that, so it is called the body of wisdom. The life of beings is the wind.
