From the "Purification of the Evil Destinies Tantra," the ten names of Vajrapani are taught using terms such as "Kotakhya," thus it is also common with the lower tantras. Secondly, regarding whether the fourfold explanation is permissible for texts that introduce the sixfold explanation, Pandit Kaldan Drakpa believes that the two are very different and contradictory. However, this view is not reasonable because the third chapter of the root tantra states: "Gems of five colors, the size of mustard seeds, diligently on the tip of the nose, the yogi should always meditate." The "Lamp Illuminating" states that this is explained in four ways. Also, the "Compendium of Conduct" explains it in terms of direct and indirect meanings. Therefore, it is not necessarily true that lamas of the Dorlukpa tradition say that if a text only explains one or two explanations, it is the sixfold explanation, and if it explains three or four, it is the fourfold explanation. Then, is it permissible to explain everything that can be explained in four ways with two ways of direct and indirect meanings, and is it permissible to explain everything that can be explained in two ways of direct and indirect meanings with four ways? In the sixth chapter, the four lines such as "Imagine mustard seeds on the tip of the nose" are explained in two ways of direct and indirect meanings in the "Lamp Illuminating." The direct meaning refers to the basic desire, the hidden dharma, and the subtle meditation of the generation stage. The indirect meaning refers to vajra recitation, impure illusion, and the suchness of the pure deity. Therefore, it is permissible to condense the meaning of all that can be explained in four ways into two ways of direct and indirect meanings. Thus, it is evident that what introduces the fourfold explanation can also be explained in two ways of direct and indirect meanings. However, explaining them separately is done according to the needs of classification and summarization. There is no certainty that what can be explained in two ways of direct and indirect meanings can be explained in four ways, because the direct meaning may or may not have both literal and general meanings, and the indirect meaning may or may not have both hidden and ultimate meanings, depending on the situation. If we summarize the fourfold explanations into two ways of direct and indirect meanings, it can be done as follows: In this tantra, the ultimate meaning is understood as it is or not, and the meaning of the words is explained according to the literal meaning. The "Lamp Illuminating" states: "At the end of each chapter, there is the sixfold explanation." It also states: "The sixfold binds with bonds." And "The supremely subtle yoga tantra spoken by the Sugata."

Whatever is said, such as "certainly realize by being free from the six extremes," will also be well cited. If the four modes and the explanations of provisional and definitive meanings are not contradictory, then, are the remaining four of the six extremes contradictory or not contradictory to the explanations of the four modes? If you think like this, then, the third chapter of the scripture quoted earlier states that there are five levels of intentional explanations, and the four modes are also explained. Therefore, the intentional explanations and the explanations of the four modes are not contradictory. The sixth chapter says, "Meditate on a mustard seed on the tip of the nose." etc., which is said to be the five levels of intentional explanations. Moreover, since the Lamp Illuminating Wisdom explains with the two, provisional and definitive meanings, one scripture can have the four modes, the two provisional and definitive meanings, and the intentional explanations, making seven explanations possible. Regarding the three, intentional/non-intentional and literal/non-literal, the father-son scriptures do not clearly explain the four modes. Literal meaning, according to other systems, is understood as taking the meaning as it is explained in the scripture, but here, that alone is not sufficient. It mainly refers to a situation where there is no second meaning apart from the actual meaning. In the commentary on the five levels, the Ornament of Jewels, etc., it is unreasonable to have eight divisions within the four modes and six extremes, making fourteen explanations for one scripture. This is because the inclusion of intentional/non-intentional and literal/non-literal on one basis is contradictory. Third, an extreme is a peak or a door, and it is divided into six: the two, provisional and definitive, are the extremes of meaning; the two, intentional/non-intentional, are the extremes of language; and the two, literal/non-literal, rely on the extreme of the sleep of language and meaning. This is what the Tibetan scholars say. The first two are: As the Lamp Illuminating Wisdom says, "For those of bad fortune, the Victorious Ones speak in a hidden way, which is the meaning of the provisional. In order to clearly show the true meaning, the definitive meaning is also spoken." This should be understood as such. For example, this instruction to meditate on a jewel of five colors the size of a mustard seed on the tip of the nose actually conceals the practice of Vajra recitation, which combines the three, rising, abiding, and dissolving of the five-colored winds, inseparable from the three syllables. Superficially, it speaks of meditating on the five types of hand implements, such as the vajra, on the tip of the nose. Among these, meditating on the hand implements is the provisional meaning, and practicing the winds is the definitive meaning of the true meaning. The scripture's
