From the arising of near attainment from clear light, to the sequence of earth arising from water, it is certain that the absorption sequence is like this. The other stated arising sequences do not have such certainty of absorption. Regarding the meaning of the absorption of earth and so on, it is said in the 'Ear of Whispered Instructions': Absorption is the sequence of earth and so on, that is, the body becomes relaxed, there is no taste, the fire power is weak, and the movement of the body and so on is weak. When appearances and so on reach wind, gradually, as one is, the natures become weak and cease. As it is said, the body becomes relaxed and so on, the abilities of the coarse elements to act as a basis for knowing gradually diminish, and the discriminations of the eight aggregates of nature cease. So, what is the meaning of earth absorbing into water and so on, the former absorbing into the latter? It is when the abilities of the former are gathered and the abilities of the latter become clear, a feeling arises as if the abilities of the former have transferred to the latter, and that is designated as absorption. Earth absorbing into water, appearances like mirages; water absorbing into fire, appearances like smoke; fire absorbing into wind, appearances like the appearance of space; the subtle element becomes three appearances, appearances like a lamp; the absorption of the self-existing all-good appearance, like a cloudless sky, and the constant appearance becomes only clear light, as stated in the 'Clear Lamp'. The five signs explained in the later tantras are said to arise from the five absorption sequences. Among them, the subtle element is wind, and that is the wind that moves the discriminations of nature, not all winds are absorbed there. Even during the three appearances and clear light, wind and mind enter together. 'Wind merges into the three appearances,' it is said that wind merges into consciousness, without separating the three appearances individually, but generally combining them and saying that wind merges, which is a rough statement. If explained in detail, it is said in the 'Practice Summary' and 'Self-Blessing' that wind merges into appearance, so the meaning is that wind merges into the first appearance. 'The self-existing all-good appearance having merged,' the translation of Lotsawa and Gö is like this, while Patshab's translation is: 'The self-existing all-good merges into appearance.' Although this is so, the sequence of the first two of the three appearances merging into the latter two, and the latter merging into clear light, is not separated individually, but generally combined, consciousness

It is like saying that it dissolves, so the three appearances dissolve into clear light. The "nature" mentioned there refers to the three appearances being called the appearance of nature. It is the name of appearance, not indicating that nature dissolves at that time. Because the dissolution of wind means the dissolution of the wind of self-nature moving. Therefore, the nature of appearance is the name of nature, and the appearance of nature is the name of appearance. At the time of the three appearances, what kind of experience arises? As stated in the Compendium of Conduct, it should be understood as occurring like the moonlight, sunlight, and twilight covering the cloudless autumn sky. Although the Compendium of Conduct explains the dissolution of the three appearances and the four clear lights into the preceding and succeeding ones, and also distinguishes the characteristics of the three appearances separately, the first one is like seeing a mirage with five rays of light, and the second one is appearance, like moonlight. Thus, the four signs are summarized. Although the Lamp of Clarity explains the four signs in detail, it summarizes the order of the three appearances entering clear light, and the characteristics of the three appearances without distinguishing them separately. One is summarized and the other is detailed, so they should be combined with each other. Then, when the subtle element dissolves into appearance, it appears like a candle, and is it contradictory to say that at the time of the first appearance, it occurs like moonlight appearing in the sky? It is not contradictory because it is the difference between the time when the wind of moving thoughts dissolves and the time when the first appearance arises after that. Therefore, the five signs and the appearance like moonlight, etc., although the Lamp of Clarity and the Compendium of Conduct explain the order of the path of completion stage entering clear light, they also appear in the same way in the order of death, so the basis should be combined with both situations. Because the characteristics of the two are the same. Therefore, the order of dissolution of the Vajra Garland entering clear light should combine the concise with the detailed, and merge the excess into clear light. The order of the Lamp of Clarity entering the clear light of death for attaining Buddhahood in the bardo should be combined with the two situations of the completion stage for attaining Buddhahood in this life. The order of death of ordinary people in the Differentiation should be combined with the two situations of the completion stage. Although the Vajra word is one, it can be applied to all of them.
