arise, and by this, both good and bad karma are accumulated, and they die and are born again, revolving like a wheel. The five stages, such as the Vajra recitation mentioned earlier, are the distinctions of the stages of birth and death in the base period. Thus it is said. The way of transformation is: to keep the air entering and exiting constantly is the base Vajra recitation. That is, it is said in it: "Whoever the sentient beings of the three realms, relying on life and effort, like reciting the secret mantra king, do not know meditation and abandon reading." Thus, at the end of practicing the recitation of air day and night, when dying, the movement of air in and out stops, and the great elements gradually dissolve, and the experience of appearance, increase, and attainment appears, which is the stage of mind isolation. At the end of near attainment, the clear light of death appears, which is the stage of clear light, called the base Dharmakaya. At the end of the clear light of death, only from the air and mind residing in the old aggregates, separated from the old body, the intermediate state body is formed, which is the stage of the illusory body, called the base Sambhogakaya. Although there is no difference between the pure and impure illusory body stages on the base, this can represent both illusory bodies of the path period. The base intermediate state Sambhogakaya, which is not visible to ordinary flesh eyes, becomes the object of that eye when taking birth in the state of existence, which is the base Nirmanakaya. Regarding this, it is said in the five stages: "The conventional truth is illusion, and the perfect enjoyment body is also that, that is, the Gandharva sentient being, the Vajra body is also that." Thus, the illusory body of the third stage is said to be a Gandharva sentient being in the intermediate state, so it should be known that the illusory body of the path is established in the intermediate state, and the base intermediate state is established in the illusory body of the path. Those who say so are because those who do not have skillful means and secret instructions, the air and mind that arise in the intermediate state, if they have skillful means and secret instructions, then they appear as the illusory body, the perfect enjoyment body. The Conduct Collected Sutra says: "Thus, the so-called existence of ignorant ordinary people, the intermediate state, is the cause of samsara. Those who have obtained the secret instructions of all the Tathagatas through the lineage of the Lamas,

īs brlab pa So-called, just as it appears in a wall or canvas or mirror. The self-nature of the Vajra body manifests, possessing all perfections, never tiring of being seen. Adorned with the thirty-two major marks of a great person, etc. Thus it is said. The father and son explain the key point of the bardo in this way, that for those without oral instructions, birth and death are autonomous, the wheel of samsara turns, for those with oral instructions, when death comes, the Dharmakaya will appear, and taking birth is autonomous, the Nirmanakaya will appear. Therefore, on the ground, the two bodies of the path are obtained, and the two dharmas of the ground are indicated by the names of the two bodies of the path. Regarding the order of arrangement, it is also necessary to know the second stage of mind-fixation from the state of Vajra recitation, and it is said that the clear light is manifested in the same way as the order of death by the two meditations. Therefore, it is also clearly stated that the paths of the completion stage must also be generated in the continuum in the same way as the order of death. The Ngok tradition people, although they explain the order of existence, birth, and destruction as the object of practice of both stages, they do not establish the three bodies and the five stages at the time of the base. The Mar tradition people, from the summary of the five stages, put existence, birth, and one day on one cushion and explain them together. Relying on what is said, it is very good to establish the names of the three bodies on the three of birth, death, and intermediate state, and the names of the five stages such as Vajra recitation at the time of the base. Doing so is for the purpose of generating on the path as the order of existence, birth, and death of the base, so this is necessary. Even if it is called that way, if you do not understand this necessity, and only explain the key points of the death Dharmakaya, etc., as practicing only at the time of death and the time of the intermediate state, and if you make the names of the five stages of the base different from what was said before, it is not good. By the way, the way to establish the five stages in one day is: the breath coming in and out in one day is Vajra recitation; from the beginning of sleep to the time when no dreams appear, the four emptinesses appear, the first three are mind-fixation, and the fourth is clear light, which can also be called the sleep Dharmakaya. It is not just the appearance of dreams, but there is a special dream body, which is the illusory body.
