From the perspective of the schools, it is said that after the Blessed One passed into Nirvana, the collection of the three baskets was carried out. To think of assemblies and the like in the same way is highly unreasonable. If that were the case, it would be inappropriate to make explanations of the opening remarks, etc., from the already collected tantras such as the 'Intentional Utterances' and the 'Vajra Garland' by the compilers. Question from the student: If there are no different compilers, then why are venerable Ānanda and others known in the world as compilers of different tantras of Vajrapani? Answer: Ānanda is the bodhisattva mahāsattva Samantabhadra in this unsurpassed vehicle. The compiler is Vajrapani, and the teacher, the great Vajradhara, is also Vajrapani himself, and not another tantra. Otherwise, if Ānanda were a śrāvaka and Vajrapani were a bodhisattva trainee, how could these sutras and other eighty-four thousand collections of teachings, and :pa tshab: the Vajrayana teachings themselves, all be heard by the Tathagata from Vajrapani, and be retained in one go without omission? Not only that, but the Blessed One also said in the Great Yoga Tantra that this meaning is the unsurpassed secret. After that, the perfect retinue of the सर्वज्ञ (sarvajña, omniscient one) will be explained. For example, Mañjuśrī became the great king Śuddhodana. Lokēśvara became the great goddess Māyā. The mother of the teacher, the great Vajradhara, the glorious goddess, is Grahadhara. Vajrasattva, the immovable one, is Rāhula. The one who eliminates all obscurations is Śāriputra. Samantabhadra became the sthavira Ānanda. The lord of the gods, Indra, is the sthavira Devadatta. The great Vairocana, Vajradhara, became the perfectly enlightened Buddha, the glorious Śākyamuni. The reason stated in the scripture is that the so-called compiler and retinue are for the sake of causing initial beings to have faith in the Dharma and thereby enter the path.

Although the two dramas have common features, it is better to translate drama here as "Patshab," just as a single drama actor transforms himself into various costumes. This "Mo" refers to this kind of drama. Just as the Buddha manifests incarnations, although it is not actually the case, it is stated here as the source of such manifestation due to necessity. The Buddha will not pass away like a candle being extinguished, and the sacred Dharma will not be cut off and disappear. Although it is manifested in one world, the boundless deeds of the Buddha will be manifested in other worlds. Even so, in order to tame those sentient beings with small sorrows, it is shown that Nirvana and the Dharma are about to disappear. This is what is said in the "Golden Light Sutra." ༈ When explaining the introduction of what I have heard, etc., because "ཨེ་ཝཾ་" (Tibetan, Devanagari: एवं, Romanized Sanskrit: evaṃ, literal Chinese meaning: thus) is a definite statement by the Buddha himself, it is said that these two letters of "ཨེ་ཝཾ་" (Tibetan, Devanagari: एवं, Romanized Sanskrit: evaṃ, literal Chinese meaning: thus) must represent the special essence of wisdom and means. If this were not the case, then the meaning of "hearing this Dharma from the teacher" could also be expressed by "Idam" etc., so there is no reason to only say "ཨེ་ཝཾ་" (Tibetan, Devanagari: एवं, Romanized Sanskrit: evaṃ, literal Chinese meaning: thus). ༈ These two letters represent means and wisdom, and the reason why it is necessary to explain them first, and that they are symbols of the Buddhas, how is that known? Answer: The Blessed One himself said in the "Collected Explanation Tantra Asked by the King of Gods." ༈ Indra asked: What is this word, that is, the letter of "ཨེ་ཝཾ་" (Tibetan, Devanagari: एवं, Romanized Sanskrit: evaṃ, literal Chinese meaning: thus), meant to symbolize? And, for what reason is it used at the very beginning of the scriptures? Also, is "ཨེ་ཝཾ་" (Tibetan, Devanagari: एवं, Romanized Sanskrit: evaṃ, literal Chinese meaning: thus) the language of the Sugata? Or is it said by the Shravakas, that is, the compilers, who are different from this? Please eliminate these three doubts of mine, you who have reached the end of the exhaustion of existence. Thus he asked. The merit of the seal of the sacred Dharma "ཨེ་ཝཾ་" (Tibetan, Devanagari: एवं, Romanized Sanskrit: evaṃ, literal Chinese meaning: thus), that is, praising the great statement, in some old translations it is said to be "of the statement." However, "in some versions it is said to be 'meaning'," it should be translated according to "Patshab: The merits of the sacred Dharma are praised and heard." The meaning is of the Buddha, of the King of Gods.
