Therefore, this is the most excellent appropriation, and thus it is the best of the Completion Stages. Therefore, if other beings do not accomplish a supreme Completion Stage that has the same meaning as this or is similar to this when approaching the fruition, they will not be able to proceed to the ultimate attainment. Likewise, the state of union in the path of learning, as it is said, "Each part is known separately," if there is no Completion Stage of the two truths individually beforehand, there will be no non-dual union, so illusion and clear light must be practiced separately. Moreover, the illusory body is accomplished at the end of the three emptinesses, and union is accomplished at the end of the four emptinesses, from the mere wind-mind that arises in reverse order. As it is said in the Five Stages: "That and that come with their own nature, possessing the six consciousnesses, by the order of self-blessing, it also changes several times for the sake of sentient beings. Just as from a clear river, fish quickly rise up, likewise from the emptiness of all things, it is said that a net of illusion arises." As it is said, it is also repeatedly said in the Condensed Practice and the Lamp Illuminating. Therefore, before that, it is necessary to enter the subtle dualistic appearance of pure clear light at the end of the four emptinesses. To enter there, it is necessary to purify the appearances of the three minds, so it is repeatedly said that direct realization is necessary. To accomplish this, it is necessary to first obtain the self-blessed illusory body, which is called the conventional truth. As it is said in the Five Stages: "The samadhi of self-blessing, likewise the place of clear light, by the difference of cause and effect, it is shown as two truths. By the order of self-blessing, clear light is attained. Therefore, the Vajra Master, first shows the blessing to himself." So it is. The illusory body is the body in which one's own mind appears as Vajrasattva from the mere wind-mind of the three minds and wind that arise in reverse order at the end of the three emptinesses. As it is said in the Five Stages: "That itself is perfectly endowed with wind, the three consciousnesses again arise as the body of the yogi, that is called the illusory body." So it is said. This is similar to the mind-body of dreams, as it is said in the Condensed Practice, so in the mind of the yogi, it seems that such a body is attained, which is the wisdom of

Since such attainment is not achieved on the actual object of the body, the illusory body of the learning union that abides on the object, and the body accomplished from wind and mind, although similar, have great differences. It is necessary to understand the similarities like a dream body, which I wish to explain elsewhere. Therefore, it is said in the Five Stages: "Like the image in a mirror, one should know the illusory body; all colors are like a rainbow; pervasive like the moon in water." This means that, as before, one should understand the body that appears as oneself in the form of Vajrasattva, arising solely from wind and mind, to be similar to those examples. It is not a body composed of flesh and bones, but one should not merely regard oneself as appearing very clearly in a clear and unobstructed body, like the moon in water. Because it is said that the generation stage should also be practiced in this way, even when the generation stage has not become stable, there are clear appearances that surpass even what is seen with the eyes, and there are many appearances that are clear, unobstructed, and like rainbows. The illusory body exists continuously from the generation stage until the three isolations, as stated in the Compendium of Practices. Therefore, when the generation stage is perfected, even within a mustard seed, the entire mandala of the support and the supported appears completely, very clearly, and stably, as explained in the section on subtle channels. However, since the illusory body is not attained, such instances do not have the meaning of an illusory body. Similarly, when the deity's body appears as a clear and unobstructed body like a rainbow, remembering the view and arising in a form like an illusion that appears without inherent existence, it also does not have the meaning of an illusory body. Because the Compendium of Practices states that practitioners of the generation stage use examples such as illusion to regard all phenomena as illusory, but do not understand self-blessing, it specifically refutes clinging to this as an illusory body. This quote has already been cited. Furthermore, during the generation stage, when the outer and inner worlds are gradually dissolved and absorbed into emptiness, all coarse appearances of objects such as colors subside, and only a clear mind remains. When arising from that state, the deity's body appears without any prior thought. Although that appearance is also clear and unobstructed, those appearances also do not have the meaning of an illusory body.
