That is the pure ritual of the ultimate means of practice, and its order is: A person with good fortune, from the excellent guru, generates the mind of enlightenment, receives vows and empowerment, protects them, knows their nature, tames the mind, and practices purely, this is the nature of the five rituals. Thus it is said. In the Liberation of the Seven Treasures, it says: In any Yoga Tantra system, the aspects of the Tantra system appear in three ways: the causal Tantra, the means Tantra, and the resultant Tantra, as the wise have said. Furthermore, the holder of the Yoga Supreme Tantra, the result depends on the cause, like five individuals who are like seeds, should know the distinction between what to abandon and what to adopt. Then, gradually receiving empowerment, one should enter the means Tantra. First, with the wisdom of listening, generate listening to the Tantra of words. Then, with the wisdom of contemplation, learn the connection between words and meaning. Then, with the power of the wisdom of meditation, first learn the generation stage. After that, bring out the ultimate completion stage, abandoning the faults of being face down, perforated, and poisonous. If one can constantly abide, like the fruit that grows from the conditions of water and fertilizer, the result will manifest without doubt. Thus, the cause Tantra is, as said in the Lamp Illuminating, the five individuals who have received empowerment. The means Tantra is, relying on the wisdom of listening and contemplation, to ascertain the meaning of the Tantra and gradually study the two stages. If one practices in this way, the result Tantra will manifest. This is the view of Śrāddhākaravarma, which is based on the fact that it is said in the latter part of the Compendium Sutra that it is summarized into three Tantras. In the commentary on the first chapter of Black Enemy, the Jewel Lamp, it says: For those who are empowered by a supreme person, at all times, enter into samaya, stabilize in samaya and give empowerment, having received empowerment, do recitation, having finished recitation, do practice, the result of accomplished practice, having obtained the result, do the activities of benefiting others, which are summarized into six. For those who cannot achieve the supreme person, giving inferior empowerment, it is summarized into four: samaya, empowerment, recitation, and activities. From the Collected Works of Yeshe Dorje, it says: The ways to achieve Buddhahood through the vehicle of desire are summarized into four: Tantra, the basis of discussion, the definitive words, and the cause. The meaning of these is explained in the Lamp Illuminating: Desire.

Therefore, I will explain in order to clearly understand the Dharma. The arising of the five Buddha families is called "Continuum." Again, becoming the same family is clearly called "Topic." Holding the vajra, etc., is explained as "Definite words." Amorous gestures, etc., are called "Cause." Thus it is said. Furthermore, by taking the four ways of attaining Buddhahood in the desire realm in that lifetime through the path of non-attachment as examples, the four ways of attaining Buddhahood in one lifetime through the path of attachment are also similar to this, as stated in the Lamp Illuminating Treatise. As in the first case of the former method, just as it is necessary to be born into a human lineage, in this case as well, it is necessary to abandon the pride of an ordinary body and transfer to the pride of the five families or related deities. A continuum like taking birth is needed, which is the first step. As in the second case of the former method, although there are various signs and attire, etc., when not coming from the monastery, when coming from the monastery, it is necessary to have the same topic with the signs and attire of a renunciant. In this case as well, it is necessary that the various manifestations of deities ultimately belong to the same family of Secret Lord Vajradhara, and that the various dharmas of samsara and nirvana also become the same taste in that very clear light, belonging to the same family. These are the two completion stages. Because this is the foundation and root of various dharmas such as the mandala of deities, it is the topic. As in the third case of the former method, just as it is necessary to abide in the conduct of discipline, in this case as well, it is necessary to recognize the vows of the five families, such as the vajra vow, and to receive empowerment. This is the place to rely on without fail, it is the definite word. The Sanskrit word for word is pāda (梵文天城体:पादा,梵文罗马拟音:pāda,汉语字面意思:foot), which also includes the meaning of place. As in the fourth case of the former method, just as it is necessary to have the proximate cause of practicing Dharma desiring the fruit, in this case as well, it is necessary to have the proximate cause of practicing any of the three conducts. These will transform into empowerment, vows, the two stages, and the conduct that enhances them. The two form bodies of the fruit are considered by the noble ones to be included in the clear light and union of the completion stage. By doing so, there is the empowerment that makes the path meditation a suitable vessel, and the vows and precepts obtained at that time.
