As long as one enters (samsara), all afflictions will not cease. Therefore, no matter how hard the Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas strive, they must admit that they cannot be liberated from samsara. Thinking that these are all people of different dispositions, (Shantideva) said in the "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way": "Your yoga sees no-self, but cannot realize forms and other dharmas, because it clings to forms and other things, and arises with greed and other things, because its nature is not realized." The commentary on "Entering the Bodhisattva's Way" also says: "Because of clinging to the self-nature of forms and other things, it is inverted. It is also impossible to realize the absence of self of a person, because it clings to the aggregates that are the basis of the self." This is the view of the Holy Nagarjuna. The "Garland of Jewels" says: "As long as there is clinging to the aggregates, there is clinging to the self. As long as there is clinging to the self, there is karma. From karma arises samsara again." The "Root Wisdom" says: "Liberation comes from the exhaustion of karma and afflictions. Karma and afflictions arise from conceptual thoughts. These arise from elaboration, and elaboration ceases by emptiness." Therefore, clinging to the truth of the aggregates binds one to samsara, and to be liberated from samsara, one must eliminate its root—the elaboration of clinging to the truth. Because realizing the meaning of self-emptiness can eliminate it. The "Praise of Non-Conceptual Wisdom" also says: "The Buddhas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Shravakas, must rely on, the path of liberation is only you, it is certain that there is no other." Therefore, the mother of non-conceptual wisdom, who realizes that all dharmas are without self-nature, is the only path of liberation for the three vehicles. The "Mother Sutra" says: "Those who want to study in the Shravaka ground should also study this "Prajnaparamita." And it is said in the same way in the Pratyekabuddha and Buddha grounds. The "Compendium Sutra" says: "Whoever wants to become a Sugata Shravaka, and whoever wants to become a Pratyekabuddha and a Tathagata Dharma King, cannot obtain it without relying on this (Prajnaparamita)." This is a summary of the meaning of what was said. In the Shravaka Pitaka it is also said: "Form is like a bubble, feeling is like foam on water, thought is like a mirage, formations are like a banana tree, consciousness is like an illusion." So said the kinsman of the sun (Buddha).

Tsal to. It is said that, to show that meaning, it is also said in the Root Verses: The Blessed One, existence and non-existence, with wisdom, to Katyayana's teachings, both existence and non-existence, were refuted. It is said that, therefore, even in the Hinayana's Vinaya Pitaka, it is not that the selflessness of phenomena was not shown. However, in the Hearers' Vinaya Pitaka, there are many explanations that one progresses to the state of Arhat with the sixteen views of impermanence, etc. In the Mahayana, it is also said that there are two ways of progressing: realizing the selflessness of phenomena and progressing through the path of impermanence, etc. For example, in the Mahayana Sutras, it is said that there are two ways of progressing to omniscience with the views of Mind-Only and Madhyamaka. The scholar Aryadeva ascertained with the collection of reasoning that the sutras that show the way of Madhyamaka are not to be diverted to other meanings. Therefore, just as the sutras that clarify the way of Mind-Only need to be guided in a way other than what is shown, it should be understood in the same way here as well. In the Tantras, it is also said many times that Hearers and Solitary Realizers do not realize the suchness of phenomena. If one does not realize the suchness of phenomena, one cannot transcend samsara, and the conceptual thought of grasping phenomena as true binds one to samsara, and many such things are said, so one needs to know the way to explain them without contradiction. Then, if it is said that showing the path of impermanence, etc., does not liberate one from samsara, then why is it shown? In the Sixty Stanza Reasoning, it is said: The path of arising and ceasing is shown for the purpose of need. By knowing arising, one knows ceasing. By knowing ceasing, one knows impermanence. By knowing how to engage with impermanence, one will also realize the supreme Dharma. Those who have realized dependent arising, having completely abandoned arising and ceasing, will see and cross the ocean of existence. As it is said, it should be understood in this way. Because if the mind is completely attached to conditioned phenomena, the desire to transcend samsara will not arise. Therefore, to counteract that, the path of impermanence and suffering is shown, thereby causing the desire to transcend existence to arise. Then, from the reasons for arising and ceasing, one realizes the ultimate truth, that is, dependent arising is by nature without arising or ceasing, then one will be liberated from samsara. Therefore, the path of liberation is to realize the selflessness of persons and phenomena.
