It is the ritual of becoming a branch. First, from the second chapter of the Illusion Net, it says, first is to completely take the ground, second is to prepare to abide, west, third is to enter. As it is said, there are three, namely the ritual of the ground, the ritual of preparation, and the ritual of the main practice. If it is drawn in the east, the king will die, and various harms will occur to the local people; south, for whose benefit it is drawn; west, is the teacher; north, is that those who enter that mandala will die; fire, there will be a lack of rain and truth, leading to famine; wind, there will be wind and rain; near the stupa, it will lead to death; near the water where the dragons live, it will lead to floods; drawing in the shade of a tree, know that it will lead to death, so all these should be abandoned. It should be done at the boundary of the powerful in towns, cities, villages, gardens, temples and houses, or in a pleasant place that is inclined to the east and north, as it is said in the Garland. The Lower Commentary of Glorious Supreme says that in the fire direction there will be no rain, and the fear of fire will occur, and in the wind direction there will be heavy rain, which is different from what was said before, in the place of trees it will lead to death, in the place of dragons it will lead to death and the appearance of pools. The southern city is empty, except for the remainder, the six places are the same as before, they say that these are what the teacher said. Doing it near the stupa is what is said in the general tantra, so it is forbidden to do it near it. The Forty-Six of Vajra Dakini also says: Villages and cemeteries, markets and gardens, and temple cities, the eastern and northern lands are auspicious, the southern and western directions are not. And, or whatever pleases the mind, in those places you can draw the mandala.
