Having said that, One should strive for extreme suppleness of the body. With a supple body, one becomes fortunate to have happiness. With a happy body, one-pointed mind, and samadhi, at that time, recitation becomes unobstructed. Thus it is said. The method of accomplishing flawless one-pointed samadhi, and after accomplishing it, first, the method of generating mental pliancy, and based on that, the method of generating physical pliancy, and after that, before the accomplishment of qualified calm abiding, the reasons why calm abiding that is in accordance with it does not arise, etc., have already been explained in the common vehicle's stages of the path, so I will not elaborate. In all four tantra classes, the time when qualified calm abiding is accomplished is mostly the time when one is led into deity yoga. If one does not distinguish between qualified calm abiding and what is in accordance with it, and if one does not carefully distinguish the time when qualified calm abiding is accomplished, as it appears in the great treatises, then one will not know the boundary to which one should be led when one is first led into deity yoga. Thus, when the samadhi focused on the body is stable, then abandon it and learn the samadhi focused on mantra. Abandoning means holding the mind on the body. Learning means abandoning that and holding the mind on another object. It does not mean that from then on, the clear appearance of the deity will not arise, because it is often said to focus on the deity during the three recitations, the fire position, and the sound position. There are three focuses on mantra. Among them, focusing on the gross is to do silent recitation by focusing on the shape or sound of the letters, that is, the shape of the letters arranged on the moon, and the shape of the tone. Hold the mind without scattering it elsewhere, and learn to recite as you hear it yourself. In this way, when the yoga of reciting mantras in speech and not scattering the mind from whatever object is at that time is stable, then abandon that way of learning and learn the subtle, that is, not reciting mantras in speech, but reciting only with the mind, and holding the mind on either the shape of the letters or the shape of the tone, the two do not scatter elsewhere, and practice until it becomes stable. When that is stable, then abandon that as well and practice the two samadhis of the extremely subtle nature of sound, that is, one's own mind realizing the self-nature of the self, that itself is the apprehended part, the sound of the mantra and the fire.
