Then. Those who know the tantras, regarding the subtle points of mantras and mudra rituals, and the explanations of tantras and mandalas, should not give them to those who have not entered the mandala. All things that resemble weapons, as well as things that resemble sentient beings, and all kinds of mudras, should not be eaten or stepped over. The practitioner, with wisdom, should not slander medicines, nor should they touch them with impure things, nor should they step over them with their feet. One should not argue with Mahayana practitioners, nor with those who have wisdom. Even after hearing about great Bodhisattvas with great power, one should not become annoyed. One should not compete with those who practice with mantras. For minor faults, one should not become angry and use violence. When abiding in the recitation ritual, one should not sing, dance, or play. For the sake of beauty, one should not wear garlands and colors. Subjugation and offerings, running and clamoring, and bad behaviors arising from the body, all of these should be completely abandoned. Those who abide in the truth of Dharma should abandon evil, violence, change, and vulgarity, as well as divisive words, and should not speak meaningless nonsense. One should not live with heretics, nor should one argue. One should not speak secret mantra recitations to low castes such as outcastes. When a wise person is reciting, except for the mantra attendant, one should not speak to others without reason. One should not smear the body with grain oil, nor should one eat sesame. Radishes, garlic, salt, etc., as well as various different pickled foods, as well as barley dough and beans, sesame barley dough and cheese, as well as soybeans, those who desire accomplishment should completely abandon them. All food of wrong views, as well as all food of tormas, kṛsara and milk porridge, those who recite mantras should completely abandon them. One should not ride vehicles such as chariots, nor should one trample on lotuses, etc. One should not touch discarded food scraps with one's feet. All coquettish gestures, as well as carrying shoes and umbrellas, and bodily adornments, those who recite mantras should completely abandon them. One should not rub one's feet with one's feet, nor should one rub one's hands with one's hands. One should not discard urine and feces in water, nor should one discard them nearby. Bya. Do not eat even the back of leaves, Do not eat food that the wise are attached to. On beds and small beds, The accomplished, intelligent one is unclean. Do not lie with others, Nor lie supine or prone. Do not eat again and again, Nor eat too little or too much. Do not not eat, Nor eat anything that is doubtful. Do not rejoice in wonders, Do not look at all performances, In women's quarters and secluded places, Do not be attached with a clinging mind. Nourishing oneself with mantras, abiding in rituals, With body, speech, and mind as well, Regarding food and behavior, Do not be without restraint. Pages 101 to 200. There should not be. The wise householder who recites mantras, Should not wear colored clothes, Likewise, old and stained, There should not be only one garment. Do not slander yourself, Do not dislike yourself, Nor become discouraged, Do not be overcome by illness. Unless permission is granted, I should not reveal secret mantras. Do not slander with a foolish mind, Do not loosen the obscurations. Do not let the mind change, Nor have too many thoughts, Without an impure, clinging mind, The reciter can subdue secret mantras. Attachment to one's own happiness, Should be abandoned day and night. Having done these, these should be done, Do not become distracted. What has been done carelessly during the day, Confess separately at night. What has been done at night, confess also during the day, Manifestly for virtuous deeds.
