Therefore, because all thinking is conceptualization, and conceptualization either enters into the desired form or enters into the undesired form, thereby generating attachment and non-attachment, i.e., hatred, which binds one to samsara. Therefore, by not thinking of anything, the conceptualizations that enter into desired and undesired forms cease, and when that ceases, samsara ceases, and one can attain Buddhahood. Therefore, the path to attaining Buddhahood is the non-thinking of not thinking of anything, and the samadhi of conceptualization other than that is not. This is a summary of the meaning. Here, the term "Tathagata's wisdom" is used because it is clearly explained on the path to attaining Buddhahood, so it is not the stage of fruition, but rather it is named after it because it is the means of accomplishing the Tathagata's wisdom. In the Great Commentary, regarding its refutation and obstruction, two types are mentioned: contention and rebuttal. Among the two in the first type, the refutation by reasoning is: It is said in that very text (the Great Commentary): Here, if the wisdom of non-thinking can bestow Buddhahood, then why have all sentient beings not become Buddhas? Because these beings also deeply enter into the wisdom of non-thinking in deep sleep, and they have no attachment to desired objects, and they have no attachment or non-attachment to undesired objects. This is what is said (in the Great Commentary). Its meaning is: If one can attain Buddhahood by meditating on abiding in not thinking of anything, then whenever one enters into deep sleep, it (the wisdom of non-thinking) arises, and since it has existed since beginningless samsara, all sentient beings would become Buddhas. In short, if merely abiding in the meaning of selflessness determined by view, without grasping at any extreme, is the non-conceptualization that attains Buddhahood, then it is the same as deep sleep. Because merely not grasping at any extreme is also present in deep sleep, but abiding in the view is not present in the other (deep sleep), so it is thought in this way. The key point is that not grasping at extremes and realizing freedom from extremes are not the same, and it is with this key that the fault is applied. Just as when Kamalashila refutes the Hwa Shang, the former proponent also presented it in this way, and the refutation of it was also done with the non-conceptualization of fainting, just like that. The refutation by scripture is: Here, if the "Jewel Lamp Treatise" is without thinking or without clear appearance, then how can the samadhi called "Jewel Lamp Treatise" arise? Similarly,

Other samādhis will not become without thought, because they are of the nature of self-awareness, and because they are not inert matter or emptiness. This is refuted by quoting the Sutra of the Mother itself. If this treatise says that the samādhi of one's own system has appearances, thus preventing non-conceptualization without appearances, if the appearance of empty form arises and one does not grasp at anything, even if one does not maintain the certainty of the view that establishes the meaning of selflessness, one thinks that one is meditating on the profound meaning. That is not reasonable, because the former party is: one must meditate on non-conceptualization that abides without grasping at anything, and if one abides in that way, empty form will appear within a day, which is said in the Great Commentary, and you yourself admit it, and it is also established by experience. Therefore, the meditation that the former party admits will also become meditation on the profound meaning. Therefore, that is not the intention of the commentary. The answer to the debate is very clear, and at the end of the refutation by scripture, it says: If these words of children are: If the wisdom of the Tathāgata (藏文,དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པ།,梵文天城体,तथागत,梵文罗马拟音,tathāgata,汉语字面意思:如来) is self-awareness, then how can all dharmas be without self-nature From page 901 to 994. How did the Tathāgata say it? It should be said that here the wisdom of the Tathāgata is, realizing that all dharmas are without self-nature, not the nature of non-existence and the deeply sleeping mind. The answer to the debate said so. To this, the reason for not being without thought was previously said to be because it is the nature of self-awareness. If the wisdom of the Tathāgata is self-awareness, then it contradicts saying that all dharmas are without self-nature. The wisdom of the Tathāgata is, as previously said, meditating on the profound meaning of attaining Buddhahood. The meaning of the nature of self-awareness, if it is merely awareness and awareness of one's own nature, then it cannot be said as a reason for not thinking about anything, therefore it is having the cause of awareness that determines the meaning of what is to be meditated on. If there is such a cause of awareness, it is said that it contradicts selflessness, because if the meaning of what is to be meditated on is without self-nature, then nothing is established, therefore it is thought that there is no object of grasping, and if that is the case, it is argued that there is no profound meaning to be meditated on by the mind. The answer to this is that the meaning of selflessness is that all things are not
