It is said in the root tantra that when Madhyamikas meditate on the unchanging non-dual wisdom, it is also said that they should meditate through the two selflessnesses. As it is said in the commentary on the fifth chapter: For the Madhyamikas, like a dream, they meditate on the unchanging and non-dual wisdom, that is, the selflessness of sentient beings and the selflessness of phenomena. Among them, the refutation of the self of sentient beings has been mentioned in the second chapter, and the reasoning for refuting the self of phenomena is also mentioned in the commentary on the second chapter: Therefore, the Madhyamikas say that consciousness is ultimately existent, but the wise do not accept it, because it is separated from the nature of one and many, like a lotus in the sky. Neither existent nor non-existent, nor both existent and non-existent, nor the nature of both. Understanding the liberation from the four extremes is the Madhyamika. Such reasoning of being separated from one and many, therefore, the result is not from self, not from other, not from both, nor without cause. Like the reasoning of the Vajra Splinter, etc., as it is said in the Madhyamika treatises. In the tantras and commentaries, the explanation of selflessness is brief, so it is also said that it needs to be understood from other treatises, as it is said in the commentary on the second chapter: Selflessness, etc., are established. This is said briefly, and the details should be understood from the extensive scriptures. In addition, the commentary says: Vajra is indivisible and great, and it itself is the vehicle, that is, Vajrayana, which is the way of mantra and the way of Paramita, the nature of result and cause are integrated into one. As it is said, as mentioned in the abbreviated initiation previously, the way of mantra, the result is unchanging bliss, and the way of Paramita is the definitive emptiness that appears but has no inherent existence. Therefore, if it is said that the Kalachakra school does not accept the emptiness established by reasoning, and does not accept the view consistent with the Madhyamika reasoning collections, then this is a reversed explanation of the meaning of the tantras and commentaries. Therefore, the wise should seek the meaning of the emptiness and form, existence and non-existence, the extremes of permanence and annihilation, and like illusion and dream, etc., which are not explained once, from the Madhyamika treatises of the noble father and sons.

Like a seedling, in the ultimate truth, it is free from all extremes, and in the conventional truth, it is without inherent existence. All actions such as bondage and liberation are reasonable. In a manner like illusion, severing the bonds of clinging to extremes, one should proceed to liberation, without firmly holding onto the true clinging that grasps the self of phenomena. Secondly, having sought the understanding of selflessness in this way, but without continuously cultivating the definitive understanding established by view, whatever is grasped is a mode of clinging of conceptualization. To say that not thinking about anything is the system of the Wheel of Time is a misinterpretation of the meaning of the tantric commentaries. This is because it is specifically refuted in the great commentary of the fifth chapter. Among them, the initial proponent of that view is first stated, as it is said: Thus, in the Perfection of Wisdom, the Tathagata's wisdom without thought is spoken by the Bhagavan for the sake of attaining perfect and complete enlightenment. Thought is not, because of the nature of attachment and detachment. Here, when the thought of sentient beings fully enters, at that time, attachment arises towards extremely desirable things, and detachment arises towards undesirable things; these are the cycle of existence. When one fully enters without thought, at that time, there is no attachment towards desirable things, and no detachment towards undesirable things; thus, there is no attachment and no detachment. Because these are absent, there is no cycle of existence. Because there is no cycle of existence, one becomes a perfectly and completely enlightened Buddha. Therefore, what is to be accomplished by a Buddha is the Tathagata's wisdom without thought, and not other meditative stabilizations of conceptualization. Thus it is said. To this, the word "spoken" is cited. By whom was it spoken? By the Bhagavan. Where was it spoken? In the practice of the Tathagata's wisdom without thought. For what purpose was it spoken? For the sake of attaining Buddhahood. Where was it spoken? In the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, that is, one is confused by the mere words that wherever one applies existence and non-existence, emptiness and non-emptiness, etc., it is applied to characteristics, and not to the Perfection of Wisdom. What should be contemplated is not the practice of the profound path to attain Buddhahood.
