Because habit reveals an endless source of bestowing excellence, if one relies solely on scripture for practice, the former will greatly increase, so let's speak in reverse. To dispel the doubt of whether or not it is necessary to practice the generation stage, it is clearly shown. In the second chapter of the latter part of the "Vigilance in Two," it says: This yoga of the completion stage, its bliss is called great bliss. There is no practice of completion, what need is there for generation? The Blessed One said: Alas, great Bodhisattva, diligently with the power of faith, how can the non-reality of the body be blissful? Bliss cannot be spoken. In the manner of pervading and being pervaded, bliss pervades beings. Like fragrance dwelling in a flower, the non-reality of the flower cannot be known. Likewise, since form and so on are non-real, bliss itself cannot be objectified. Thus it is said. Therefore, there is no need for a beginner to practice the generation stage without practicing the completion stage, because the meaning of great bliss arising simultaneously is the yoga of the completion stage. In response to the question posed by stating the reason: You have declined from the generation stage with the power of faith in the completion stage, it is said, and the two, generation and completion, are established as the support and the supported, like a flower and its fragrance. That is also, the mind entering the thusness of things, is practiced by the completion stage, while the body abides in the form body, is practiced by the generation stage, and considering that the body is the support of the mind, it is said to be the support and the supported, and there is also a corresponding support and supported at the path stage. If one does not even acknowledge a beginner's stage for the most excellent person who attains enlightenment in this life, then one must, like the Chinese monks, think that the disciples are all at once. If one acknowledges a beginner's stage, then to think that they do not need the first step to attain enlightenment contradicts all the tantric treatises. To say that a person who has diligently practiced tantra in many previous lives is an extremely excellent person and does not need to be guided from the first step is an inappropriate statement. Here, for a beginner entering tantra, in the stage of progressing through the stages of the path, we are discerning whether or not the first step is necessary, because for such a person, there are also many completion stages.

Because it is also possible to lead from anywhere. This is like, when analyzing whether one needs to proceed from the path of accumulation to attain Buddhahood, saying that once one has attained the first ground, one does not need to proceed from the path of accumulation. Regarding this wrong view, Aryadeva also made a clear refutation, saying in the Compendium of Trainings: The Vajra disciple reported: Like us ordinary beings, from beginningless time, we are attached to various external objects, thinking that there is existence and non-existence, one and many, two and non-two, neither existence nor non-existence, etc. With the cause of habitual tendencies of self-nature such as permanence and annihilation, those who are engaged in attachment to conceptual thoughts, when studying the samadhi of the completion stage, should they study according to the order? Or can these be made to appear separately in an instant by relying solely on the oral instructions of the guru? The Vajra Master said: It should be studied by entering gradually, not all at once. Through many proofs, it is proven that one must be guided in order, and one must first study the teachings of the Buddha, and then study the generation stage. In short, if one says that the first stage is not a necessary path to attain Buddhahood, then it is as if saying that in the lower three tantras, there is neither the teaching of the Paramita Vehicle nor the uncommon and special path of mantra. This is tantamount to slandering most of the tantric scriptures and the scriptures of the Anuttarayoga Tantra, so such a mantra practitioner is truly amazing. Just as in the Paramita Vehicle, for those who should be tamed, such as those who are fond of giving, there is a path to attain Buddhahood without having to study the practice of the Paramitas, in the Mantra Vehicle, if one does not rely on the first stage, there is also a path that can quickly lead those who should be tamed to Buddhahood - if one says this, there is no difference between the two, and this wrong view also seems very serious, so one should carefully organize the beginning and end of the scriptures, and let those with discernment abandon it far away. Because they do not even understand the names and meanings of the sadhanas, such as the Hevajra Sadhana and the Kye Dorje Sadhana, etc., which are named by the great accomplished ones.", "original_tibetan": "སྨྲས་སོ།", "chinese_translation": "说了。", "english_translation": "Said.
