I myself and deity yoga need to be practiced, and this has been said many times before. Furthermore, if familiarizing with conceptual thought cannot lead to freedom from conceptual thought, then familiarizing with conceptual thought must also necessarily not cause the object of familiarization to appear clearly. This is because the appearance of the object very clearly and the fact that it is conceptual thought are contradictory. As the Lord of Reasoning (Rikje Wangchuk) said, "For that which is connected to conceptual thought, there is no clear appearance of meaning." It is like that. If one cannot establish freedom from conceptual thought through the very clear appearance of the object without confusion of time, then it will be impossible to completely refute the view that the consciousness of the Tirthika Ishvara school is conceptual thought. If familiarizing with conceptual thought does not give rise to clear appearance, then when someone with attachment repeatedly remembers the object of attachment, seeing its form clearly and then striving to touch it, and when someone with a mind very afraid of ghosts, etc., repeatedly remembers them, the appearance of that form very clearly, etc., would be impossible, and one would have to deny it. Moreover, the King of Reasoning (Rikje Gyalpo) said, "The earth, etc., in the exhaustion of ugliness, even if one meditates on what is not true, through the power of transformation, it is said to be without conceptual thought and to have a clear appearance." Thus, one would also abandon the words of the Sugata said to arise from the scriptures. Furthermore, for those outside schools who believe that liberation is impossible, if one cannot refute the example that serves as the basis for establishing the pervasion of the reason that the direct perception of yoga can arise, even by those outside schools, then this also becomes cutting off the root of the proof for establishing that there are noble individuals, etc., in other schools. Therefore, regarding the arising of clear appearance on the object of familiarization, it is the same whether one is familiar with the correct or incorrect meaning, and the Lord of Reasoning, considering that it merely follows familiarization, said, "Therefore, whether correct or incorrect, whatever is extremely familiar, when familiarization is completely perfected, that is clear, non-conceptual, and has the fruit of wisdom." Moreover, in the eleventh chapter of the Conduct, it is also said, "Whatever things, the minds of people, truly connect, it becomes its thing, like a wish-fulfilling jewel with various forms." It is like that. If one admits that familiarizing with conceptual thought gives rise to clear appearance on the object of familiarization, then since the meaning of freedom from conceptual thought has already been accomplished, if one does not use the term "non-conceptual" for it, then it is just arguing over names. If the object appears clearly
