In my time, there was no adorning with the five families. To that, as explained by Lavapa and Darika, one should also make offerings with flowers and the like. Darika said: Having made offerings, one should give purity. What is said about giving purity is that Lavapa explains these five empowerments as the nature of self-nature pure Dharma, as well as the afflictive mind, mind consciousness, the five sense consciousnesses, and the Dharmadhatu wisdom of the Alaya transformed, equality, discriminating awareness, accomplishing activity, and the nature of mirror-like wisdom. Also in the Garland it says: The five empowerments cause the seeds of those wisdoms to grow, therefore one should aspire to their nature. In the Sutra of Origin it says: The five empowerments are the nature of the Thus-Gone One. And Prajñārakṣita also explains the purification of the five aggregates and five afflictions as the five empowerments. Victorious Good One says: Whoever is thus empowered, there is no doubt that siddhis will be attained. Whichever deity is manifested, one is able to accomplish their activity. Therefore, one should make the meaning spoken after the five wisdom empowerments understandable to the disciple. Also in the Fourth Chapter of the Guhyasamaja Tantra it says: Whatever appears, all of that, that itself is the main Heruka. Since all dharmas are pure in their own nature, one should view them as Buddha wisdom. Therefore, these spoken after the five empowerments are also explained in many other mandala rituals, and their meaning is: With the wisdom of the divine family, whatever appears from the garland empowerment to the name empowerment, that and that should be viewed as the five wisdoms of the Buddha and the completely pure realm of Dharma-nature, as six, and the garland empowerment should be viewed as the sixth. The word "whoever" in the last line means "for whom", therefore the reason for that is: All dharmas are pure and stainless in their own nature. Having said that, the Dharma of the Buddha, which is pure in its own nature, such as mirror-like wisdom, etc., the stains of the six hindrances, are washed away by those empowerments, and because they are inseparable in nature from those, therefore one should aspire to those. The main deity of the mandala is: is the nature of all of those, and Heruka is merely a symbol, this is explained in order to explain the meaning of viewing the five empowerments as the five wisdoms. To that, sprinkling with water, etc., and placing the head ornament on the head, and handing the vajra and bell into the hand, and naming, etc., are the cause of those five empowerments, but not the essence, therefore the essence is the water empowerment.

For example, during empowerment, visualize the generation of Achala (Fudo Myo-o), and use water blessed by invoking Achala as the empowerment substance, sprinkling it on the crown of the head, etc. For the water empowerment of the mandala deity that has been accomplished, and for the newly invited empowerment deities headed by Achala, after making supplications, relying on the actual empowerment given by the guru, it can purify the skandha of consciousness and anger in the disciple's continuum, manifest the Dharmadhatu wisdom, and especially bestow the power to engage in meditation, recitation, and accomplishment of activities through Achala. This is called water empowerment. The other four empowerments and the garland empowerment should also be applied in this way. Therefore, the first water empowerment among the five empowerments and the water empowerment that serves as the basis for other empowerments are different. Regarding the meaning of calling these "wisdom empowerments," the Garland Treatise says: "The garland and water, etc., these six empowerments, accomplish the power to counteract ignorance, hence they are called wisdom empowerments." Lavapa said: "In order to accomplish the nature of the complete transformation of the five ignorances—the five wisdoms—and at all times, the wisdom deities such as Buddha Eyes bestow empowerment." Here, two meanings of the term are given: the former is the empowerment that accomplishes wisdom, and the latter is the empowerment given by wisdom. Therefore, it is understood that the empowerment itself is considered wisdom. Lavapa generally said that after obtaining these five empowerments, one has the authority to hear, explain, and practice mantras and tantras. However, the Garland Treatise prohibits the empowerment yoga for hearing, explaining, and practicing mantras of the Kriya and Charya tantras, and the non-empowerment for hearing, explaining, and practicing mantras of the Yogini tantras. This is because, as mentioned earlier, it is considered that they are not suitable for hearing and practicing the Completion Stage, and for explaining these two tantras. Therefore, this does not prohibit them from hearing and practicing the Generation Stage. In this way, for the Kriya and Charya tantras, apart from giving permission to teach the Dharma, there is no need to separately give the Acharya empowerment. The second part is divided into two parts: the ritual of water empowerment and the ritual of the remaining empowerments. The first part is divided into two parts: making supplications and purification, and the order of performing the water empowerment based on that. The first part is: after showing the mandala, for the sake of water empowerment, the guru
