Etcetera, all offerings, arranged according to the number of deities. It should not be less than ten. As it is said, it should be equal to the number of deities, or if not available, it should not be less than ten. The method of arranging offerings is as follows: Some Tibetan lamas say that the preliminary offerings are arranged in a square shape, some say on the wall, and others say in a square shape in front of each deity, but it is sufficient to do it in a common way. Here, without generating the Samaya beings, inviting the Wisdom beings and making offerings and praises, etc., is explained by Palden and Lawapa, etc. However, their intention is also that, as explained by Saraha, Mitruzawa, Napopa, Darikapa, and Phrengwa, etc., it is better to invite the Wisdom beings when generating the Samaya beings. The third has four parts: showing the material, size, and number of the vase; the method of writing the vase's substance and symbols; how to arrange the vase; and the method of accomplishing the vase with its branches. The first is: Vajra Dakini says that the vase should be made of gold, silver, copper, or clay, whichever is available, so other materials such as brass are also acceptable. Regarding the size, Kalachakra says that for the vase of pacification and increase, the circumference of the belly is sixteen fingers, the height from below the belly to the mouth and lips is twenty fingers, from the edge of the mouth to the hanging lips is two fingers, and the height of the neck is six fingers. The distance from the edge of the lips to the other edge is eight fingers, two parts of which are the space of the neck, and one part is the width of the two lips. It is said that the empowerment vase is also the same. Other tantras say that the vase should be without roots and stains, with hanging lips, a long neck, and a large belly. The root is the base. To be without stains means that if it is naturally white, it is sufficient. If not, it should be whitened with rice flour, a skull, or sandalwood paste. It is also said to be smeared with chalk or white clay. The lips are: not as commonly said, but hanging from the edge of the mouth. The Clear Light of Union says: "Inside those vases, make them with the characteristics of a victory banner. With a size of eight fingers, the neck is high and very beautiful. The width of the belly is five fingers high. If the size is less than that, the patron will not become virtuous. Completely abandon blackness, abandon the root and do not stick to it, completely abandon holes."

and, likewise, a flawless vase. It is said that this is necessary for the Namgyal (Tibetan: རྣམ་རྒྱལ།), so it is considered that others are not necessarily so. Regarding the number, according to this scholar's view, for Manjushri Vajra (Tibetan: འཇམ་རྡོར།), in the extensive form, there are many deities, with a Karma vase added on top of the vase. In the condensed form, it is said that there are either Namgyal and the Karma vase, or just Namgyal alone. Or, like the number of deities in the Potala Palace (Tibetan: ཕོ་བྲང་དབུས་མ།), or the number of its five Tathagatas, or like Akshobhya Vajra (Tibetan: མི་བསྐྱོད་རྡོ་རྗེ།), the Tathagatas, Tathagata mothers, heroes, heroines, and wrathful deities are condensed into five deities. And like Chakrasamvara (Tibetan: བདེ་མཆོག), they are condensed into five deities through the five chakras, etc. Many methods of condensation are taught, and it is said that one should understand others by referring to these. In "The Clear Union," it is also said: In the sand mandala, either the number of deities, or five, eight, or nine vases. It is said that this is based on the source of the consecration tantra, so one should calculate the appropriate number by referring to these. Secondly, regarding how much substance should be put into the vase, in the forty-sixth chapter of the Vajra Dakini, it says: five medicines, five precious substances, and five grains, as well as camphor, red sandalwood, etc., should be filled with medicinal water. The five fragrances are also mentioned. The five precious substances are: pearl, gold, ruby, coral, and amber. If there is no ruby, then any of silver, copper, or conch shell will do. If there is no amber, then a jewel will also do. The five medicines are: Pṛhātī (Sanskrit Devanagari: पிருஹாதீ, Sanskrit Romanization: pṛhātī, literal meaning: Pṛhātī), Kaṇṭakāri (Sanskrit Devanagari: कण्टकारी, Sanskrit Romanization: kaṇṭakāri, literal meaning: Kaṇṭakāri), white Aparājitā (Sanskrit Devanagari: अपराजिता, Sanskrit Romanization: aparājitā, literal meaning: Aparājitā), and white or red Daṇḍa Utpala (Sanskrit Devanagari: दण्ड उत्पल, Sanskrit Romanization: daṇḍa utpala, literal meaning: Daṇḍa Utpala), which is the Utpala flower of the staff. The first one is said to be tiger thorns. The third one is the white invincible one. In "The Best of Power," it is counted in the power staff. The five grains are: sesame, barley, peas, rice, and wheat. In some texts, peas are said to be substituted for wheat. As it appears in "Defective Transformation," in "The Transformation of Power" and "The Best of Power," rice is said to be substituted for peas. The lamas say that peas and pea seeds are beans of different sizes. Regarding the five grains and five medicines, the Vajra Dakini mentions some slight differences from this. In this text, it says, "with the fragrant water together with the five amritas," so regarding its fragrance: Dārikāpa says: camphor, saffron, sandalwood, and red sandalwood, musk, etc., should be poured in after reciting the mantra. Thus it is said.
